I did some maintenance today, the pass side door lock was really slow and I didn't like that, probably hard on the solenoid.
Outside of the usual PIA of pulling the panels (I keep bags of those white inserts in the shop), it was a quick fix. As, I've said before, the problem is usually in the latch mechanism, sticky lock pawl from the old white lube. Cleaning was super easy, jam a rag inside the door under the latch, hit the levers with brake clean and the latch leavers from the outside of the door. Sprayed all the parts with PB Dry Graphite. Took about an hour or so. Huge difference. |

That's what I had planned to use last week when the door panels were off! Had a senior moment and forgot.

Get a supply of the white inserts for the door panel screws.
They can break just by pulling the screw. Suggest 6-7 per door. |

Yea, Joel. I've been using dry graphite on certain things for a very long time, always have it in the shop. Saw this at HomeD next to the PB Blaster. It goes on wet then drys----you have to be real careful when spraying to keep it off any surface you want to keep clean and you don't want to get it on your hands. But it sure is good stuff. I have white lithium spray grease too, like GM uses but figured it would just gum up down the road. |

I have the graphite in the little plastic squeeze bottle...it gets everywhere when you squeeze it. PIA. Looks like the one Bill has works better. But he's right, once it's on something (like carpet, door panel, etc) it's difficult to get out.
