NOW THAT WE HAVE SURVIVED ANOTHER FRIDAY THE 13TH, A LITTLE BACK STORY ON WHY IT’S AN UNLUCKY DAY: THE TEMPLAR’S CURSE IT WAS ON A FRIDAY 13TH THAT JACQUES DE MOLE, LAST GRAND MASTER OF THE KNIGHTS TEMPLAR, WAS BURNED AT THE STAKE BY ORDER OF THE KING OF FRANCE, WITH THE CONNIVANCE OF THE POPE. HE WAS OLD AND RATHER FEEBLE, HAD CONFESSED TO HERESY UNDER TORTURE, AND THEN PUBLICLY RECANTED THAT CONFESSION. AS HE DIED, HE CALLED UPON THE KING AND POPE TO MEET HIM BEFORE GOD’S THRONE OF JUDGMENT WITHIN A YEAR. BEFORE THE YEAR WAS OUT, BOTH KING AND POPE WERE DEAD. |

WELL, THIS IS WHAT I CALL "TRADITIONAL HISTORY". ACADEMIC HISTORIANS WOULD NO DOUBT NITPICK AND SNEER.
