Has anyone trashed out the existing Oil Pressure Sensor fittings that mount on the back of the block/oil galley?

The two fittings that I have, are pretty well shot as the Oil Pressure sensor screws in too far and covers the hole in the fitting.

I guess I could drill the feed hole in the fitting to be larger

I believe your year has a separate sensor and switch and that these were
originally mounted in a 'log' or manifold-style adapter that is no longer
available. Would using a hose and a tee to relocate the switch/sensor
address your issue?

My '89 has a single unit that combines both sensor & switch functions.
However, for convenience in adding a second sensor for the purpose of
datalogging oil pressure to my G2X, I relocated the OEM sensor/switch
from the back of the block to the firewall above the booster.

This gave me lots of room to use a female Tee to install the OEM and
G2X sensors. The tee is attached to braided hose that runs to the port on
the block. The hose run is short enough that the OEM sensor wires
do not need to be modified to reach the terminals in their new location.
I have not 'shaved' other OEM stuff from the firewall so the repositioning
does not change the visual clutter of the OEM look much, if at all.

Are you asking because you need to replace it?

I put a sender and switch combo on my carb'd truck, had a hard time finding the correct fittings to use but I made it work.

Do you need me to check my receipts and get the p/n for you? I think I actually got em at mcmaster.com, I couldnt' find one at Summit.

Might be easier to just get one from vette2vette or Dino's corvettesalvage or something though.

I think I used this and this... You have to use two pieces whichever way you go, or you'll never get it threaded into the block. The bottom piece has a allen head on the end you can't see that allows you to thread it into the block from above.

For those who may not be familiar with the components under discussion.

LD85, have you considered using internal hex socket plugs in the existing
holes and drilling/tapping new holes in the manifold?

Unless there is some kind of interference, my vote is that new holes
on the same two faces/flats of the hex of the manifold would be an
easy way to salvage the OEM pc.

The short fitting with the angle face is the one that allows the longer fitting to screw in so far that it blocks the inlet hole coming from the block.

I ground the end of the longer fitting down so the hole was unobstructed, but I don't think it will tighten down well,,, I'll look at it more today.

Kent Moore offers tools for installing oil pressure gauges that screw onto the oil filter fitting and I think the oil filter then screws onto the tool just like some of the oil cooler mounts. Ebay prices are in the 10-20 dollar range.

With one of these you could then just screw in a bolt to block off the original hole and put your sensors on the oil-filter thing-a-ma-jig.

That's another option, Tee off an extra fitting by the oil temperature sending unit above the filter.

It should all just be 1/8" pipe fittings. Substitute parts ought to be available at any hardware store.

I just shortened the threaded end so the hole was unobstructed.
