I finally located a nice fiberglass targa for my '88.

Now it's off to the paint shop for some Dark Red paint.

I'm sure you'll like it. I've never even used my clear top since I got a painted one.

I'd love to have a painted top.

As an alternative I got a headliner for the clear top. Not a painted top but it doesn't allow all the light in and helps keep the wife from geting migraines.

Where did you get your headliner? I have heard some people say they kept coming lose. It would be nice to find a decent one.

Thanks,

I just used that contact sheet material from Eckler's. It cost under $30. Kind of a pain to put on, but I love it. I bought the black one with the holes, still lets in light, you can still see out, but the car isn't a cooker in the summer.

Excellent. I have been looking around for one as well, just like the look. I have checked with Melrose and they did not have any used tops and wanted $785 for a new one. I have seen several on Ebay. Where did you find it? :me2:

I found it on ebay after many months of looking. First one I found under $400 in NICE condition.

item # 350029296298

Here's the crappy condition kind I've been finding every week.

I got mine from Corvette Central. $59.00 I think. It has tabs that fit under the frame that hold it there pretty good. It hasn't fallen down yet anyhow.

The thing I didn't like about it was that the under side of the headliner can be seen thru the clear top and it looked like poop. So what I did was go to a craft store and got some sheets of black felt and covered the back side so when looking down thru the top all you see is the black felt. It looks good and is not noticable unless you are looking for it 'cause it is black.

Doesn't look bad but I didn't think I should have had to do that to it. You would have thought the Brainiac's that design these things would have thought about covering up that side knowing it was going on a clear top and that side would have been visable outside the car. JMO.

I tried one of the plastic headliner inserts for the glass roof also. Ecklers I think.

The bottom side looked fine, but as mentioned above, you could see the unfinished white plastic top-side from above when you looked at the top of the targa from outside.

I sent it back and resigned myself to the fact that I had to have a hardtop, and would wait until the right one came along for the right price.
