No, not the big rod kind with the kotter pin in it but the flush mount twist type. I am thinking of doing this on my aftermarket hood but would like to see it first. Thanks.
Something like this. Or this: |

I've seen a couple with the cotter pins and I liked the way they looked. I haven't seen that other type. I don't remember who had them, but I think I have a couple pics saved on my hard drive.

I have the good old fashioned pin that sticks up through the hood on my car.
A cotter pin keeps the hood in place. |

If either of you wouldn't mind posting some pics of them or e-mailing them to me I'd apperciate that. I would like some from back a few feet as well as up close of the pin through the hood.
Thanks |

Wow, I really like the pins on the red hood. I'd like to know what he attached the latch to on the side under the hood. I never considered putting them on the side. Something else to think about. Thanks.

The first one looks like a copy of a factory set-up used on some muscle Mopars back in the classic muscle-car era. They also used many of the pin type, as did other manufacturers back then. I've got a vintage set of the Mopar twist-ins, they're worth a nice penny.
Is your aftermarket hood a skinned down ultra lightweight type that requires something like this? If so, fine. But if you're just doing this for looks on a street car, I think a C4 is not the car for this. JMHO. |

I'm with Notorious...I'm even considering not bothering to put them on the second race car. Hood pins are a lightweight way to keep the hood from flying up in the latch fails (or there is no latch). The C4 hood (or any Corvette hood) isn't going anywhere since it opens from the rear.
I can save a little weight by removing the latch, but not enough to worry about. |

I agree with both of you. My blower motor control module went out the other day and I had to keep unplugging when I got out and plugging it back up when I got in the car. I just lowered the hood w/out fully shutting it and drove around that way. I didn't figure the hood was going anywhere. It's replaced now. |
