Why is that? Isn't it better to get input before a purchase you are well versed in?

Sure it is.

But you did not even give a simple thanks back to all those that answered your query. You simply wrote that you talked to someone else and followed their suggestions. Now how does that make all those who thoughtfully replied feel? Maybe like you didn't even read their responses?

So, rather than saying "it cracks me up"

I should have said "what a douche bag!" why bother asking in the first place?

Well "after doing some research" implied following the advice given here and looking at the different brands and types offered.. I'm not going to run right out and by and HP because someone here said too. I used all the info provided and made a decision. I'm sorry I didn't buy something anyone else in this thread told me to. If that makes me a douche bag then I'm ok with that.

I saw that on the news this morning. She typed 45 words a minute with one hand. That's bad ass. I like it when hard working people get help to improve.

OK so after doing some research and talking with a friend that works at CompUSA I opted for an odd brand. They apparently make motherboards and recently got into the laptop game. It's an Asus. I'm assuming that's an A at the front of the name. Wierd font. I took your advice to go and use one and see how I liked the feel. When it was all said and done I opted for this over two others. A Samsung and a Toshiba. The Toshiba was a nicer maching I thing but not $150 nicer. The only thing it had that this doesn't was more Ram but my buddy is hooking me up with twice the ram for $50 and he is going to install it. Anyway I'm using it right now and it's way better than the Acer we have. Much nicer. I'll report back later on if I still like it. lol

Got it for $400 btw.

My wife and I are looking to replace our laptop and while I'm pretty versed in the garage I'm not when it comes to computers.
We are in the $500 price range and it will be used mainly for my wife's work. Power points, word and the like. I found this one and it looks pretty good but I'm really not sure what I am looking at. http://www.google.com/products/catalo ... 88209377710751&os=reviews

It's getting pretty good reviews and some nice words said about it from gamers. I don't imagine she will be using those kinds of resources so I'm thinking it will be good for her. What do you recommend? Thanks

Looks like everyone has answered your questions pretty good so I'll just add I've visited lots of places around this country but I'll be staying here in Florida. It does get hot in the summer but the winters are really mild. Naples is pretty much a retirement town so it's pretty laid back and slow paced. What Bogus said rings true if you aren't living on the water try to get east of I-75. It's a nice water break.

Thanks for the heads up on the trans Bogus, I'll do that before I put it in the Vette.

Trae, I did not know that. The interior is perfect other than the drivers seat, I'll post them for sale for C-3 guys too.

Yea not having to worry about putting it back together makes it easier. I still have some wiring to get out of the car and the center console. The rest will be parted out.

For that kind of money you can go to Home Depot and buy a nice Lincoln. I have one from them and use it for everything. If you have never welded run to Sears and get the $200 flux core mig. That's what I learned on, used it to do all the sheetmetal on a Bug I'm restoring for my wife. Great little welder. Won't do heavy stuff but most people don't weld over 3/16" anyway.

So I spent the weekend gutting my WS6 parts car. I'm getting everything drivetrain related sans the rearend. The 6 speed is going in my Vette the rest will reside in the Studebaker.

Who says you can't do things like this with a 4 post lift.

Here's the car. It got rearended and bent the frame, shame too it was a nice car. Alot of the parts have been swapped to his new driver.

You can get a socket that is just a bit too small and beat them on with a hammer then loosen the nut.

You can buy an aftermarket cruise controller for about $60 that will handle that issue.

Well yes and no, the ECM will still want an AC request wire to raise the idle if needed when the ac is on. Otherwise you can leave the system seperate. That is what I'm doing on my car, aftermarket air but my harness has the ac request wire built into it.

I have the C-5 brakes on my car and love them. They are way better than the early C-4 brakes. They clear my ZR-1 wheels with no problems. I wouldn't think the TT2's would give you a problem.

Thanks guys, like I said I was just fed up with the car and it wasn't any fun anymore. Probably the same place Bogus is now.
I needed to get into in on a budget and got a screaming deal on the motors so I had to do it.

Here ya go Bogus. My car was featured in Vette Magazine in Oct 2010. Here's a link to the write up.
http://www.vetteweb.com/features/vemp ... chevy_corvette/index.html

I did mine on a budget and am now getting around to new heads and intake. I bought a WS6 I am going to do a 6 speed swap too.
My car crossed the spent-way-too-much-money-on threshold years ago after I supercharged the L-98. I fully get where you are coming from on this point.
After banging my head against the wall and wasting a bunch on money on a guy working on the supercharged tune I finally gave up and did the swap.
It's a pretty mild LS and it is head and shoulders faster than the blown L-98. Anyway if you have any more questions please ask I'd love to talk you into doing this
By the way, I did all of the work in my garage at home. The only things I hired out was the building of the motor and the tuning. A good friend of my is great with LSX motors so he handled those two tasks for me. Now I didn't have the problems with the ASR and such and I swapped out my digital dash years ago because I liked the look of the analog gauges but I know that it's more than possible to keep all of that.

Good luck.

Now I'm not infering it would be easy, it most certainly would not but I is worth doing. Again as I said an LS7 wouldn't be my choice but if I did use one I'd put an oil pan on it and have it drilled for a dipstick and not run the dry sump.
As for the wiring while my car is older and doesn't have those toys there are companies to help get over those hurdles.
Jared at Current Performance is a great one to talk to. He did all the wiring on Chris Mcdonald's old LS2 85. It retained all the stock gauges.

Andy you can use the stock LS air but you have to make your own mounts. For about $300 you can buy a kit that will allow you to put a sandenson compressor on the upper right side of the motor like the L-98's had. That is what I'm going to run when I put my aftermarket air in my car.

I don't understand the naysayers here. I have an LS1 in my C-4 and LOVE it. I am never going to sell the car it is just too much fun.
Now I'm not a big fan of the LS7 for reasons mentioned above and I think there can be alot more motor done for less using a different LS based combo.
Not everyone wants a C-5 some of us love our C-4's.

I've not dynoed it and probably won't untill I put the 6 speed in it. With the 3600 stall coverter and no ability to lock it up in 3rd it wouldn't show any good numbers anyway. Right now it just has a street tune on it.
As for the garage that was a long fight. I used to have a real problem keeping it clean but I now devote a day of clean up during big projects.

The master isn't my header clearance concern it's the slave. I read somewhere else someone was selling a T-5 and modded headers for the slave.

What motor mounts did you use and did you have to do any custom fabrication to the right side header? Just curious, that would be cool to have an LS3 in a C4

An LS3 is my dream motor but my dreams are bigger than my wallet.
On the motor mounts I used the plates from Speedhound and my stock mounts and frame mounts. Pretty much a bolt in. That did cause the motor to sit forward a little so I had to slot the C-beam holes. On the headers Melrose makes a great header, they bolt right up no issues tons of clearance. They fit as nice as the ones I had for my L-98. Now I didn't use the stock LS ac set up, I haven't even looked to see if it would fit. I'm going with and aftermarket air system. I could see the need for a custom set up if you used the stock ac compressor.

So tell us about the LS engine that is in your car. How hard was the conversion and what is a cost estimate on something like that? This might be old news to some of these guys but this is first time I have seen it.

I like it!

Well I bought a package deal of three motors and used all of them to make one good one. It's got a cam, ported throttle body headers and a tune. Other than that it's stock. Greg at Anti Venom assembled the motor for me. I did all the work on the swap in my garage.
As for the effort involved for someone familar with LS motors it wouldn't be bad at all. I on the other hand had no knowledge on them so I had lots of questions. Piecing together all the needed things was the worse part. For price, the car was on the cover and featured in Vette Magazine last year as a budget brawler. I've got right at 5 grand in the swap. Not a typical price as again I did all the work myself and got some screaming deals on parts. Mine was also made easier in the sense that I already had analog gauges in my car so I didn't have to intagrate the digital dash.

Would I do it again? In a heartbeat!! Truth be told I'm itching to do another. I've got lots of great ideas that would make it so much better than what I did before. I recently bought a 2000 WS6 and plan on using that engine to build a nasty little street motor to take the place of this one and this one will end up in a Studebaker I'm building.

Any more questions just ask, I'd be happy to answer them.

I started with an 84 I had and a Z06 model my brother in law gave me. -=Jeff=- came to the rescue with some ZR-1 wheels to finish the look for now. I plan on adding the hood scoop later. Now I have an LS powered C4 model to match my real one. BTW it was way easier building the little one.

I still need to figure out how to lower the front of the car and keep everthing working up there. The new parts I got for the wheels makes it sit up some in the front.

My hope was that at the end I'd have just a perimeter frame with no floors, firewall just the suspension hanging there on a frame like an old car. I'm going to be putting C-4 suspension under a 1946 Studebaker I'm building and having that to build off of would be so nice.

If you stripped everything off a C-4 all the body panels, everything, what would you be left with? Is it or would it be a full frame with the halo bar? Could you strip it all the way down so that you have a rolling chassis with all the suspension hung on it?

Will I have a clearance issue with the slave and my headers? Why does it matter the master is angled, will it hit the firewall?

Looks good, thanks for the link. It's a good price too. I'm sure I'll have more questions when I get it all apart

Hey guys. I just made a deal on a wrecked 2000 WS6 Trans Am today. My main target for the purchase was the transmission and it's parts. My question is can I use the clutch master, slave and all from the Trans Am? I have pedals already from an 86 4+3 car so I'm hoping I can use all the parts from the donor car. Also what to do about the C-beam. I know someone makes an adaptor but in talking to -=Jeff=- he said it wasn't a real good piece. Anyone with experience? Jeffvette I guess bought one and redid it better.
Any advise you can offer would be great. I can't wait to get this 6 speed behind my LS1

That was one of the selling points on my Toledo Pro hood. It has venting to the cowl as well. Interesting read on teh 40mph thing, I never gave a thought to that. How did you test that? I'd like to test my hood and see what it does.

Nice looking Polo!

I'm mad at him for not saving me the truck in the junkyard picture.

The code is what helps us most, tho. And it helps you, too!

Hey Andy, I've been using Rock Auto for parts for my t-bucket. Will your code still work and give you credit for those non Vette parts?
