they do need it from a perspective of perception.

I think it was Dave Hill I was talking to, and he implied, at that time, the desire was for Corvette to become a mini-Ferrari, with front engine, mid-engine, sports and touring cars, all with the Corvette name.

We shall see...

And what year did Car & Driver first say there was a midengine coming out?

from the article

Quote:
Thus far GM has issued no denials discrediting our most recent (and highly detailed) mid-engine Corvette forecasts. While there’s no fresh intel regarding launch timing, the fact that experimental hardware has left the laboratory suggests that the C8 Zora sports car is on schedule to roll into showrooms in about 20 months as a 2017 model, at which point it will be sold alongside the front-engined Corvette. Place your orders now or find yourself stuck at the back of a long delivery line.

No,no C&D's been pushing the mid-year thin since the 1980's.

It's like it's their hobby.

It isn't all Car and Driver - GM has been hinting at this direction since the 1970s:

Then you'd think they would have gotten around to it by now.

Concept cars vs the reality of production.
