I'm looking at putting new shocks on my car. The alignment guy I talked to, seemed to know his stuff and said shock replacement won't affect the alignment. But, mine are of an unknown age, and seem to be pretty old. The alignment guy was in line with you guys here... hard to tell when C4 shocks are bad. First thing he said was: "The old bounce test doesn't work on those cars, they're too stiff." I had to laugh since that was a source of a few jokes here.
Anyway, I was all set to go with KYB's and then saw this:

AC Delco shocks. Anyone ever use them? How do they compare?
Thanks

Dale, you will find alot of opinons on shocks. Consider how you will be driving the car and make a decision based on that.
I don't know anything about the Delco shocks but have been running a set of KYB for a few years on my 86 and am satisfied with the durability and performance. I got them from Summit. There are alot to choose from out there

I would highly recommend you go with what the originals were, Bilsteins! A little more money, but worth every cent and they will last for years and years.

I'm sure as just a replacement shock for a driver, they'd be fine. But since they're about the same price as KYBs, I believe I'd stick with the KYBs if you're interested in the best performing shock between these two.
Did anyone look at his front end rebuild kits for C4s? According to the description, the kits include both outer and inner tie rod ends for our cars. Hmmmmmm......

as an earlier poster pointed out no real price differance, but i did go with the AC Delco's ( speed of delivery ) old Bilsteins where shot, have had no problems with them, and ride nice.

You can get the Bilsteins rebuilt. Just a thought.

I have no problem with the KYBs. I have used them and they are just fine.

I have noticed they go hard after a few years, tho... but at that price, who cares?

I currently have Koni Yellows on my 92.
