Hidey-ho, alarm clocks blow! I have to stop and load up on Halloween candy on the way home, since we were out of town. I imagine most of the trick-or-treaters will be early, if their parents are Vikings fans. Meanwhile, it will be in the 60's today - 25 years ago, we got 31 inches of snow.

GOT AN OUT OF CYCLE TRASH PICKUP SCHEDULED, BUT NOT TILL TOMORROW. THAT'S OK BECAUSE MY BACK IS NOT READY FOR ANY MORE ACTIVITY.

THE CELTIC NEW YEAR IS HERE AGAIN. SAMHAIN STARTS AT SUNDOWN BY MOST ACCOUNTS. WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT THE OLD CELTIC RELIGIOUS HOLIDAYS IS PRETTY EQUIVOCAL, AS THEY DIDN'T WRITE ANYTHING DOWN, RELYING INSTEAD ON THE TRAINED MEMORIES OF THE DRUIDS.

IT'S PRETTY WELL AGREED THAT THEY THOUGHT THAT THE SPIRITS OF THE DEAD COULD RETURN TONIGHT, AS THE BARRIER BETWEEN THE SPIRIT WORLD AND THE PHYSICAL WORLD WAS BRIEFLY LIFTED. SOME THINK THAT ONLY THE SPIRITS OF THOSE THAT DIED IN THE PAST YEAR WERE ELIGIBLE. IN ANY EVENT AN UNOCCUPIED PLACE WAS SET AT THE TABLE FOR RETURNING KIN.

GOT SOME "JUST IN CASE CANDY", BUT WE'VE NEVER HAD ANY TRICK OR TREATERS OUT HERE IN THE COUNTRY.

Hey guys...we got up early and headed over to #1 house so we could go to the Haloween parade for three of the kids (all in one school building). After that, we went back to #3 s house and ate some breakfast, of biscuits and gravy with sausage. We loaded up everything and headed home.

We stopped at Rosies' dad and visited for a while and got home in time to unload, mow the lawn and put stuff away before the trick or treaters started coming. In two and half hours we had roughly 370 little gobblens to the house. It was such a nice evening I,sat on the porch in my shorts and t shirt the entire time and never got chilled. We turned the lights out and shut the door at 8 because we were out of candy.
