Happy Friday! It is a balmy 16. I'm not going to complain, though - next week's forecast includes several days with only half as many digits. Let the blood-thickening begin.
Bundle up, Gurus! |

A break from the heat over the next week or so. Lows in the 60's, highs in the mid 70's. Uunnnngh! Feels so good.
A water truck backed into Sue's Silverado yesterday bending the bumper, jamming the hood and throwing the whole front out of joint. She called me and told me it will probably cost around $600 to fix. I told her "Guess again." There are things that you can't see that are damaged. Body shop man confirmed. Won't know till they break it down. Did somebody say nap? ............. Maybe I did. Just spent a supposed 2 hours at the nursery that quickly morphed into 5+. My x-mas lights are lying in wait. Won't go up today. |

As is the norm in these type accidents, the kid that was driving the other truck denies he was backing up and now says he was standing still. We have insurance through State Farm so we are not overly concerned about the eventual repair. Supposedly he told several stories to the reporting officer and my understanding is that he was found to be at fault but was not cited. Now, will we get dinged for the accident or not? Sue and I have extensively long and clean accident records but that can change with one incident. And rates? I don't even want to think about it. We are not above hiring legal counsel at our own expense even if it costs us money to bring it to court. Civil options are always possible. That could be fun. Go after the driver in small claims court. HHhhmmmmmm. |

Hey guys, I left early and just got bak a feew minutes ago. It was a good day. The students were, for the most part, very interested in the lessons I gave. It was pretty funny, at one point I was explaining to them how I figure the size of the cabinet doors. I pulled one of the face frames from the box that the knock down cabinet manufacturer sent to us, free of charge for the educational use, I spent about 10 inutes talking about how I go about this process, drawing pictures, doing the math. Then I said "OK, now you guys figure out the sizes of the doors, and , the sizes of each pieces to build the doors." Bob (the instructor), said, "You didn't tell me you were going to give them a test." I said, "no I didn't, but there's going to be a test." The look on the students faces was worth a million bucks. That "Oh, SH!T" look made me laugh. Bob says, "You guys have a test." SO they went over to another table measuring things and trying to remember what I had said on how to do it. Finally the oldest one came over to me and said, "Could we borrow your notes, so we can figure out how you did that?" "Yup, I think that would be a good idea. So they work on it for about 10 more minutes, while I set up for the next demonstration. The did figure it out. The rest of the day, they listened a bit more intently.
We went on to using some of the machines they hadn't had a chance to use, and I let them cut many of the pieces. I had pre-cut all the door pieces to speed the process up as I knew time would run short. All in all, it was a good day, the students learned a lot and I got to have some fun with them. On the way home, I stopped again to see my big sis, she's hanging in there pretty good, It's been 6 weeks since her last chemo and is beginning to feel more like her old self. Surgery is the next step, then we'll see what the prognosis is. The weather here this morning was actually quite nice, 24. But as I drove further north the temps dropped of until I got up to Goodland, where it was only 12 when I got there, and it never got up to 24 all day. Supposed to be nice tomorrow here, in the low 50's. |

Low 50's........holy moly you guys must be living right........we may hit 37 on Monday and the rest of the week is cold and snow..........
I am surprised that there was no ticket issued but even if State Farm pays your bill they will go after the other drivers or truck owners insurance. Did the driver have insurance? When that gal ran a red light and hit my daughter way back when and knocked her car into another one across the street......I think that neither of the other people involved in the wreck had valid licenses and one did not have insurance either. The girl who ran the light did have insurance and they did end up paying for the total. Interesting to see how that turns out for you guys........good luck with it.... |
