Good Morning Gurus!

Another beautiful day in SoCO.

And I get to leave early, for a 2pm meeting close to home. BONUS!

Home by 3pm!

I've got a few things I need to get done, but it looks like an easy day. Gotta love that!

How's your day looking, guys?

Here in the Nation's Capitol we have had a few weeks of rough weather on and off. Where I live tornados have touched down and trees down in a lot of areas. I had a huge tree come down on my fence last week in one of the heaviest storms we have had here in years.

Another series of thunderstorms came through last night leaving beautiful skies and lower temps today though.

I hope to get back out in my garage this evening and get some more organizing done while it is cooler. 87 degrees!

Cheers

Well good morning CGs!

How is everyone's day so far??? Can't complain, yet. Baby slept for two good stretches last night, about 3 1/2 to 4 hours each before getting up to eat. Awesome.

So if anyone recalls, I ordered the P90X dvds for my workouts. Well, got them yesterday. Today is the first day...duh duh daaaaaahhhhhhh! Talk about a self-image killer. After doing my baseline measurements and body fat % and "before" photos, I got a little reality check. I do work out (mainly lifting) about 4-6 days a week and I'm in pretty good shape. But geeze I guess not as much as I thought. It's amazing when I compare my #s to what they used to be a few years ago and what they are now. I won't go into detail, but I'm not pleased...lol. So I'm about to go do the workout itself in a little bit. I'm excited to get it going!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Matthew - If you are still lifting a few times a week, you can't be that bad off.

I'm doing a similiar weight loss process myself. One year ago I was down to 208lbs before leaving to ride my bike 100 miles around Lake Tahoe with Team in Training. I had trained with a group of friends for about four or five months to get down to that weight. I really needed to get down to 175, but only made it to 208 before the ride. Shortly after that, I wound up getting involved with selling and buying a new house and had some other life changing events occur that totally put an end to my working out. (or working on my Corvette) Needless to say, I also started eating anything in sight again!!! Now I'm around 260 and trying to get that extra baggage off again!! ARGH!! I just can't beleive how fast I gained 50lbs without even thinking too much about it.

I'm back on the bike now three or four days a week.

Keep up the good work!

Raining again here today. Could be worse - I could be on the crew at the park across the street who's laying sod in the rain. Been there, done that.

I saw on the news that Paul Newman has lung cancer - bummer. He was always very cool up at Brainerd International Raceway - people could always strike up a conversation with him, as long as it was about racing.

Sad indeed. Never met him, but liked a lot of the stuff I saw him in, and heard he was a good guy. And a car guy to boot.

Yeah, I'm not a slob, by any means, but not what I used to be...lol. I just turned 28 the other day. When I was younger I was involved in a lot of martial arts and sports. My body fat was around 9% or so, 170ish lbs. A few years ago I got more into lifting than anything else. So I'm a lot stronger than I used to be, but it's a different body type.

This morning I was 198 with around 20-21% body fat. I'm 5'10.5". I would like to get back to sub 10% body fat. Many of my family members are fat. I promised myself that no matter what happened in my life I would never be like that. On top of that there is a big history of heart disease due to obesity in my family. I'm trying to be healthy, plus for work I need to be fit. So it's necessary for me.

I'm glad to hear that you're jumping back on the bandwagon! I hope it goes well for you.

Well, it's time to work out!

Matthew

Sounds like your headlights need new gears or bushings.... I haven't done it, so I can't remember which. Lots of good info on the subject around. It is a fairly common thing though.

I'm sure someone here can give you better info. than I can.

Pappy,

Just before my lights went bad, they would sound like they kept running for a few seconds after turning them off. Kinda like a "thump thump thump thump" and then they would go off. You will need to replace the nylon gears. Its an inexpensive fix.

Good Luck

Now I don't feel so bad:

700-Pound Man Hopes to Stand to Marry

MONTERREY, Mexico (June 10) - Manuel Uribe, who once weighed a half ton but has slimmed down to about 700 pounds, celebrates his 43rd birthday on Wednesday with a simple wish for the coming year: to be able to stand on his own two feet to get married.

Interviewed at his home in northern Mexico, where he can still do little more than sit up on a bed, Uribe said more than two years of steady dieting have helped him drop about 550 pounds from his Guinness record weight of 1,235 pounds......(click link for more)
