I am interested in what years the ZR1 was available for the C4. I went to the gurudictionary and there were only four entries and ZR1 was not there.

Thanks Jeffvette. I usually only see 90-91 for sale. I wonder why they didn't do the 1996 model being it was the end of the C4 generation. Maybe that is why we got the Grand Sport.

We didn't get a 96 ZR1 because of ODBII. GM didn't want to certify the engine for just one model year.
Back in 1991/92, the C5 was going to use the LT5. That was the plan at least. Then the small block started to show life again, and they went that way. It was cheaper and easier to build and nearly as powerful. The value was there. Then ZR1 sales started to ebb, and by 1995, it was done. IIRC, they stopped making LT5s in 1993, so the last two years were there to burn off the rest of the production. ODBII certification was expensive; and it was cheaper to do the LT1/LT4 than the LT5. Remember, the LT1 was used in the Vette, the F-bodies and B-bodies. The F-bodies used them until 1997. |

I've noticed this too, but it's typically the 90-92 ZR1's that are for sale. They bumped the horsepower from 375 in '90-'92 up to 405 beginning in '93. |

Actually it is only 90-91's that you see for sale the majority of the time, as they made almost damn near all of them in the first 2 years. 1990 - 3,049 1991 - 2,044 1992 - 502 1993 - 448 1994 - 448 1995 - 448 I actually see more 93-95 cars for sale than 92's for some reason. |

I've debated swapping my 93 for a 94/95 ZR1. I'm not crazy about Black Rose. Now....if they just came in a '94/95 Steel Blue or Copper Metallic, ....that would be

Just in general. On ebay on the registry site. I will always see more individual 93/94/95 cars for sale over 92's. |
