I saw a Nitrous bottle that let lose inside a guy car. So that got me to thinking about my car so I ordered a blowdown tube for mine. The questions I have is are the bottle mounts enough to hold it in place if it ruptures ? Is there a really good way to secure the bottle in the cargo area so IF it lets lose it stays put ? I have a 10lb Zex bottle with their mounts in mine. Suggestions ?

You might think about contacting the company that makes it, call their tech line, and ask them the same thing. Chances are they tested their brackets in cars in various situations and maybe they know for sure that their brackets will hold everything secure even in the event of a rupture.

I thought you weren't even allowed to have the bottle inside the drivers compartment in most rulebooks.

That leaves you with building a compartment or putting it inside the spare tire cover.

You gotta have a blowdown tube on it. On a typical TNT night at my track nobody cares.

I have a 15lb bottle, mounted right behind the driver's seat, laying down, parallel with the car. I do have a blow-down tube on it. I have a 'vert so mounting will be totally different for you. It just barely fits that way, so even if the clamps let loose for some reason I don't think the bottle could move much. The bottom of the bottle is against the back of the cargo area and the top of the valve is about 1" from the front edge of the cargo area. I have 2 clamps holding it down and they are securely mounted. Also nice that way because I can reach around and open the bottle while driving, and I can turn around in the seat (when stopped) and see the bottle pressure gauge.

I mounted mine to a piece of 1/2 inch plywood that was cut to the exact shape of the cargo area, then covered it with red, matching carpet.
