I was reading an article in this month's Corvette Fever about a '72 coupe that had been bought new, driven less than 1,000 miles, and then stored in someone's living room covered in blankets for 25 years. It was then sold to someone else, who takes it around to shows, etc. It won a Bloomington Gold Survivor award - survived what, getting chafed by a blanket? I guess I'll never understand the attraction of putting one of these cars away and never driving it. Why not just get a model?

If you can't afford to lose it, don't race it. And no 1972 corvette is worth 8 million dollars.

I feel the same way, Brad. Some tool buys a ZR1 new in 1992 then puts 2,000 miles on it thinking it's some investment piece. Cars are made to be driven.

I actually like having high miles on my car. I can get in it and take it on a road trip without having to feel guilty. If it had low miles I would try to keep as many off, but would still drive it. Plus my wife has told me that she would be mad, if I had bought a car and decided not to drive it.

Yes, let's lock them up in a museum where they can not be enjoyed.

Kudos to the guy in the Ferrari. Shame the cork screw got him. It's a car, it can be repaired.

Yea, really. Vintage shops here do those repairs everyday.

Besides, vintage racing in the U.S. is barely racing, more like lapping.

Vintage racing in Europe is real racing (Goodwood).
