Mindblowing. Mindblowing engineering, Mindblowing performance.

If you missed the TV program, try to see a repeat.

1,001 horsepower, 253 mph top speed limited by the computer.
0-100km (62mph) 2.5 sec, 62-0 2.2sec.
4,000 hp generated by the brakes, 253mph to 0 in 10 seconds.
The rear wing flips to 55 degrees under braking, generating huge speed reduction
Twin transmissions with twin clutches, one engages while one releases, seamless shifts (miliseconds)
10 handbuilt radiators
The center section (no frame at all) where the seats are weighs 240 lbs. bare.
The rear assembly (eng, trans, frame) is bolted to the center section with 14 titanimum bolts. The bolts cost $100 a piece.
The car will run 155mph using only 280hp out of 1,001
The tires last 6,000 miles and cost $17,000 a set

Damn

Missed it... How long does the tank last at 250 mph?

I think Clarkson said the tires would explode before it ran out of gas.

I can do 148 on 230 hp.

I think the gas lasts 9 minutes or something like that and the tires would last 12. The lack of fuel saves the tires.

I wonder if heat cycling helps or hurts the tires?

Well, you can mount some LingLong tires on it for $55 each if you stay under 65 mph (1st gear).

9-12 minutes on fuel

Tires explode? Don't think so. They're like aircraft tires designed for the street.
It takes Michelin 30 seconds to build a regular street tire, one hour to build one of these, each ply is checked by a bunch of lasers before the next goes on.

Besides the engine, the trans is impresive, 2 input shafts each has a separate clutch.

And if you get to see the show, note the jack system in the production room, another work of art.

Probably would help a bit, might add 100 miles more.

Guys buying this car wouldn't understand what heat cycling is anyway.

Maybe they do it at the factory.

I'd get one but I'd have to build a new garage and that wouldn't be cheap. You could get a different colored ZR1 for each day of the week and still have some cash laying around.

I wonder if there's one at the Chicago Auto Show? I don't think I've been there since I bought my '80 Aspen. It would make it worthwhile, except they would probably have an electric fence around it.

Thanks. Oh well, maybe it's me, but I consider the trip to the armpit and the fees a hassle anyway.
