My wife and I decided to take a road trip to SD. The trip meter in the car was 1990mi. We stopped in Murdo, SD to see the Pioneer auto museum. It is a collection of cars, motorcycles, rocks and several other items. The cars are in original condition, or are noted if they have been restored. Then we visited the Badlands and Wall Drug. We also went to see Crazy Horse, Mount Rushmore and Wind cave. The weather was nice. Here are a few pics.

Cool, I've wanted to get up there and to Montana just to look around.

A few more pictures. They are not in order since I did not go through to name them. The wooden car is street legal. In the last picture of the road and the arrow, that is not a 10' drop on the other side!!

Good pics, I'm thinking I'm never going to see Crazy Horse done. That guy went up there in 1949 and set the first charge and his family is now continuing the work. I have pictures of my wife and I on our Honeymoon with the monument in the background. You can see some changes but not much in 28 years. I love that country!

They are estimating another 50yrs for it to be done. I was up there in '83 (which I don't remember) I was too young. They have moved a lot of material. The roads are great, and I can see why Sturgis is so popular. My wife was impressed with the views too. We had awesome weather, and had also taken our two dogs. The hotels were pet friendly, and did not have charges for it. Max our almost seven Fox Terrier has been to 11 states. Indiana to New Mexico, and South Dakota to Texas are his E to W and N to S. This was the first road trip for the four month old puppy.

Did you drive your Corvette?
I just love road trips in my '91.
The "Black Hills Classic" is on my list.

I'd love to make that trip. No one takes road trips anymore When the kids are older I plan on taking them all over the country to see historical sites and natural formations. I think that's an aspect that's been lost in our culture. My wife thinks I'm goofy about that, but she can stay home.

It is a great place to see. There is a high population of rattlesnakes, so they put in the raised walkways. Since it was a National Park our dogs were not allowed on certain paths. We took the '99 Alero for this trip, but next time the Corvette will be going. The best thing about this trip was we planned it only about a week out.
