They sell new cylinder heads. I know that the threads on #7 & #8 cylinders are messed up. It works for now but I'd like to get them fixed. My buddy bought a set of heads from this place for his 4.0 Ranger and they worked pretty good. He only had the truck for a month or so after he put the heads on it so I wanted to see if anyone here had heard of or used their heads.

They have new 113 heads for $295ea with valves and springs installed. Which is more within my budget versus performance heads.

"113" heads is an abbreviation for the GM aluminum L98 TPI heads, 87-91. Never heard of King but I doubt if they are 113 heads.
edit: unless King is a rebuilding service and these are rebuilt 113's.

Those are the correct heads for my 90 L98. I was curious what they were selling as new since I know they're not made anymore.

I believe these are the same as 113's possibly updated as it's a different number.

Yep. Cant believe they get that much for them either.
Kings sounds like a rebuilding service.

I don't think that $295 ea is bad. I haven't checked into having a shop freshed up mine but I imagine it would be close to $500 to have them rebuilt.

Should read 88-91. 87 and aluminum head 86 used the '128 heads.

As speculated KING is a cylinder head re-manufacturing company.

Basically they will take a factory GM 113 casting (that they get on trade in as a Core), pressure test it for cracks, weld any cracks, re-surface the deck, check the guides for wear and replace the worn guides (best) or knurl or press in a liner or ream it oversized for over sized valve stems (all less than best), then they will cut a valve job on the seats (not a 3 angle performace VJ either), reface the valves and re-assemble the head.

There are many of these places across the US. Some have better reputations for the quality of their work than others. They do offer "NEW" improved desgin aftermarket castings for engines that have espc crack prone cylinder head designs (AKA the 4.0L Ford V-6, and Chevy 2.2L OHV I4) that are cast in ITALY, INDIA and CHINA - but mind you they are not availiable for all engines. FYI the only SBC cyl head regulary reproduced by them right now is the 906 Vortec (because the exhaust seats crack)....

You should also check with Dover Cylinder Head which is about the best in the business.

If you have an early 85-86 TPI Corvette with steel heads these places are a good way to get the later model alum 113 heads on the cheap. You have to keep in mind that the heads you get may be off a car that some moron over heated and cracked - so they had to be welded (no big deal if done right) or whatever abuse you can imagine. Again none of that is big deal as long as the quality of repair is GTG.

ok, on top of knowing that I have some screwed up sparkplug thread now I think that I have even more issues.

My crankcase smells like 2 stroke pre-mix, there's oil coming out of the fill cap and the pcv valve, and there's some sort of moisture running down the drivers side of the block that seems to be generating from plug #7 or right under it where the head meets the block.

That 210 head is way too big for the stock tpi stuff @350ci.(port size, 1206 gasket etc.etc.). You will also want to look at having a chamber size around 56-58 cc. as to not lower the compression ratio, and around a 180cc. (if looking at used cylinder heads).
If you're not trying to mod it I would tear it down and have a machinist or a reputable cylinder head co. re-man your originals (if possible) or try and find some good used ones that have already been done.

So if I went with a 190cc with a 64cc chamber I would wind up with lower compression?

There are Procomp alum heads avail on ebay for less than $600 a pair.

Sorry, newb at all the internal workings trying to make sense of it all.

Thanks for your patience.

Yes, the compression would be lowered from going from your stock original 56cc. heads to using a 64 cc.cylinder head. I am not familiar with the Pro-comp stuff so I can't comment on their product. I would first have your originals looked at and see where I was at before buying anything....they might not be that bad.
