Another cold and dark morning. Another 1/2 inch to inch of snow, just like yesterday and the day before and the day before. I wish the carny would stop this ride :-P

Enjoy your day!

Sunshine and warmer here today. My wife came in around 9 last night and informed me that water was running out of the lawn sprinkler system head. Not a good thing to hear at that time of night. I had winterized the sprinklers last fall but figured out the valve that controls the flow of water to the system did not close all the way and when I tried to lean on it it broke off.

So we filled up some jugs and I shut the pump off (we are on our own well) so we didn't have any water last night and I called the plumber this morning since my day is schedualed tight. We take running water so for granted in this day and age.

That's my drama for the moment and I am sure there will be more drama when I see the bill. Go make some money today Guru's you will need it pay for all the stuff that breaks.

A few years ago, I was working in my downstairs office, looked out the window and saw the foot of snow bump up in the air a couple of times. Thought "damn, there's an animal rooting thru the snow".

By the time I figured out that it was the sprinkler and went outside, my 3 valve manifold had exploded.

Dumbass homeowner.

Good morning guys.... Man sorry to hear of the problems Marcus.....you're right we take many things for granted. Bill, I've seen that cloud many times. As much as I hate to say it, Brad, we'd take some of that moisture. We are dryer than a popcorn fart. The snow we had last week was all air and very little moisture. I hate snow, so you know that when I ask for it we are in bad shape. Weather here today is glorious. 36 right now headed for mid 50's. The bottom is supposed to drop out though this weekend. I think it is the same storm that is affecting Brad now.

I am leaving right after school to drive an hour and a half to watch my GS play b-ball...was thinking about taking the Corvette, but then my wife tells me we are bringing someone home from the game.....Dang, spoiled again.

Got a few things that I need to get done, I'll check in later.

Good Morning CGs!

Well, Tommy, I'm watching the rugrats...so that's what I'm doing. Wifey is at work. Despite all the chores I still haven't accomplished on my weekend, I'm playing daddy daycare. Not that I mind taking care of my kids, don't think that, it's just that I never have a day off to take care of household and auto repair items. Except last night the neighbor came over and we framed and hung the door for my basement closet. So that took a couple hours but it's done. Now I have to drywall and trim it, whenever I get around to that. This has been an ongoing project for about 5 months now....go figure.

Other than that, my other neighbor just informed me the garage heater control board is in, so that will jump on the list of priorities.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Probably a dumb question, Bill, why not just rip the whole countertop off and pitch it?

Tom, I will check to see what it would cost me to send a couple semi-loads of snow your way ;-)

I had a sprinkler problem last spring, too. A shut-off valve in the house leaked a little and let water get into the system. Of course it froze, so the feed pipe from the house to the sprinkler system blowed up real good. Had some new shut-off valves installed, hope that solves the problem.

The top is 3/4 in. mortor with tile on top, rather heavy. And the nuts who built it put down individual 6 in. wide wood planks under the morter so, it won't come off in one piece (even if I could lift it).

Actually, it's not going too bad only because of my trusty air chisel. I can pull 2 x 2ft chunks up in about 5 min. The only pain is that there's chicken wire underneath that has to be cut.

Demo's always fun.

At least I get free garage cabinets out of the deal.

Speaking of garage cabinets, I saw a few minutes of a show on HGTV last weekend where they were touring some ungodly houses. One of them had the enormous, immaculately-tiled garage housing all kinds of exotics, and had a car wash bay. Enter a secret code, and some doors that looked like garage cabinets opened up to a hidden staircase that led down to a shooting range.

The people who built this house were idiots.

But I posted that pic at 9:00 and only have one more section to pull. With clean up/vacuum it only took an hour and a half.

Under the building paper.
Geeze, it looks like they use junk outdoor fencing for the tops.

Holy cow, Bill thats what we call, hell for stout, out here. Tom I thought with all the added room in that C5 you could get 3 people in it. I remember me and 2 buddys took my 65 from Manhattan to Denver for the Rock concert in 1969. Nobody complained, had a pillow between the seats and some road pop in the back. Of course we were all a little thinner back then.

Saw some great bands from back in the day. Three Dog Night, Grand Funk RR Janis J. Jimi Hendrix CCR, who did Ina Godda davida? They were there. I think all those bands were there. I do know there was a lot of funny looking cigarrets being passed around and as luck would have it I found myself sitting by this lovely flower child and ....... Ahh, never mind!

Bill, I've run into a couple tops like that. That is the way they used to put ceramic tops on. The mortar was more like concrete and with the re-wire it was a pain when I first started removal. The first time I ran across one like that I thought what the H3ll were these people thinking? But all I can say is, after 30 years that counter top was solid, no cracks and actually very easy to remove once I figured out I could take it up in big chunks.

Marcus, I wouldn't put anyone through that. Back when I had my 64 coupe (early-mid 70's) We went on one trip where my little brother scrunched into the back...good thing he wasn't very big, or the trip too long (about 2 hours).

One thing I can say. There's not alot I've missed in my lifetime. Lucky me. I did miss Woodstock. I was only 13 at the time but I did see Janis at the Music Hall in Boston. Saw lots of bands before and after. Some of them were a trip.

When we were at the Rock show in Denver they announced Woodstock and said that they anticipated 100K folks were going to show up to watch it. Gasp, no way everyone said. I think they had over a million if I remember right. I missed that party also and am glad I did.

I had to work to pay for the Vette.
