Putting my top end back together.
I had painted the plenum and the runners black last time and just polished the fins on top of the plenum.

Now that I have the brushed alum. valve covers to go back on this time I didn't want to leave everything else black so here's what I was thinking of doing.

My phone is taking some really crappy pics lately.

Anyway, everything is just sort of propped up there in the pics. I was just trying to get a general idea of how it would look.
I just don't see me getting all the black off the runners.

Sand blast, bead blast, or at work I use floor stripper. Stuff aint through my latex glove...Prime it and repaint it with him temp engine paint from Napa. I did that with gray and it looks good!

Are those stock runners? I have a set in mint cond. from my '91.

Yes, they are stock runners. I can't afford to do any SLP's or anything right now.

I might grab some paint stripper tonight. Not sure that I like the black/polished look.

Black runners look hideous on there IMO.

Shine them up and clear it. Actually I wish I went with an almost chrome powder coat. Mine look kinda bad now.

I don't know if I have the patience to get mine that smooth and shiny. I might strip the paint off them and get it running again. Then buy an extra set of runners and work on polishing them. I've been using Mothers mag and alum polish on the plenum, it seems to work pretty good.

I'll just keep the hood closed in public until then.

If you have a color scheme like blue, red etc. You could do the runners in a Duplicolor "Anodized" color without stripping the black.
The basecoat is silver with a bit of metallic in it.
Good to 500 degrees.

I use a lot of it.

Here's a pic showing the silver base cost (silver squares). Also the blue anodized over it. The top is their yellow anodized.

As you can see, the '91 does not have the cold start injector. Not sure what you have.

I did manage to get most of the paint off my runners. So I think I am going to use them for now and hopefully upgrade to SLP or AS&M runners later.

The natural runners look fine to me.
