If you guys have experience with welding equipment, or even with this equipment, please let me know.

I thinking about one of these, but I don't wanna waste my $$ on a junk welder. Thanks in advance if you can shed some light on these.

I would say go with a brand name like Lincoln or Miller and buy local. One day when you need consumables you will be able to buy get service and repairs without shipping it somewhere ...Which welder are you looking at? Figure out what you will be welding in thickness and gauge the machine size from there . I personally bought the next size larger when I bought my Lincoln. If you are not planning on working 8 hours a day don't concern yourself with duty cycles. I personally don't have a problem with using a fluxcore wire - it gives good penetration but leaves some cleanup. In welding its all about penetration so if you were to add the gas and go with mig wire make sure to test weld on a piece and break it apart. It is easy to get a good looking weld but not have enough penetration

For that kind of money you can go to Home Depot and buy a nice Lincoln. I have one from them and use it for everything. If you have never welded run to Sears and get the $200 flux core mig. That's what I learned on, used it to do all the sheetmetal on a Bug I'm restoring for my wife. Great little welder. Won't do heavy stuff but most people don't weld over 3/16" anyway.

Those are probably Chinese welders, if you want a cheap welder like these go on ebay, they have the same type for much less..Like mentioned above if you want a good welder get a Lincoln, Miller or Hobart. The sad part is even these welders have some foreign parts in them now..WW

I'm going to echo what has already been said.

It is probally a Cebora which are made in Italy and have proven over the years to be pretty good welders but they have always had the problem of getting parts.

I have a 10-15yr old MAC Tools 110V MIG welder which is made by them and it worked great until the feed arm broke a year ago... Now I can't get the part to fix it.

Buy a Lincon, Hobart or Miller.

I've had this Lincoln for 20 years. Started with just flux and added the bottle later. It's never missed a beat. It welds very nice for the price.

The Lincon's at Home D.

Wire welder, flux only, can't convert to MIG, $269

http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v ... eId=10051&catalogId=10053

Their better flux welder, $419

http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v ... eId=10051&catalogId=10053

MIG, $524 but you still have to buy a bottle
