Hello,
Can anyone recognize these fenders? I bought this car back in 1990 and would like to find out if these fenders were an aftermarket option in the 60's or if it is just a one of a kind mod. I have American Racing rims, 295/50R15 in the back and 245/60R15 in the front. Do you think, that someone could have replaced the front of the car with a later model since the air outlets on the sides, behind the front fenders do not have louvers and look more like on a 73 than on a 69 Corvette? Strange, that it still has the front bumper. Maybe just the side louvers were removed? Thank you Stefano |

I can't help with the fender question, but have to say that is a very nice car!

They are an after market flare. More common I think on the chrome bumper cars. Hard to say who the manufacturer is unless someone recognizes the exact design. It's actually an expensive mod to get into so feel lucky.
Looks great. |

Stefano -
It was very common back in the 70s and 80s to modify that era corvette with flares and other changes to the bumpers, hoods, headlights, etc. It looks like yours was well done, some look terrible! Check this out: http://www.corvettefever.com/techarti ... _fender_flares/index.html |

I agree with above. I used to photograph a lot of the custom car and van shows in the 70s and that was the rage back then. Just think "Corvette Summer"!
Anyhow, I would bet they swapped out late model fenders because they looked more modern at the time. Probably would have gotten rid of your chrome bumpers if they could too!! The flairs looks like they were blended well and don't appear to show any age cracks or the like. |

Those look like Ecklers' ZL-1 Flares. The "mudflaps".
the original GM L-88 flares did not have those. |
