I am shifting direction... the entire LT1 thing was a bad idea, apparently. There really isn't much support for transplantation with these things.

As my motor ages, it is becoming apparent I need to do something... so...

Here is the new plan:

LSx for bastets 87 and take the LT1 from her car, do some bolt on power adders and put it in mine. Haven't decided how nuts, but it is a 96 LT1 with about 60k miles on it. So it should be ok. I am going to open it up and make sure there isn't any rust inside and oil it up really well (wrist pins, things like that). I am thinking cam, 1.6:1 rollers and heads.

I will still have my old LT1 that I can then build the bottom end on as time and $$ permit.

Making power on these old SBC cost money and it just aint worth it.....I was just to hard headed to listen. This year I bought TPIS runners anda spare plenum, cusinartvette here ported the hell out of them. I went broke, sold them before I even drove the car as I was having other upgrades, got my debt paid off, and started back on the inside. Today, I just posted about why I hate installing A4s. That was going to finish off the inside but nope, can't get them to go in right so I might just sell those off and say the heck with it.

Lastly, my car has been in the shop since late august to about two weeks ago. I got the car home and ran great. Next day, I apparently have a injector that got stuck open. The injectors arrived at FIC yesterday who I purchased from. Bosch III. Waiting on results as to why one of them is stuck open.

Will say the acceleration picked up alot with new injectors!

Theres really not much more to add to the corvette update.

I had to get a new maf at the shop this past 3 months and the other day "sunday" when the injector got stuck open, it squirted gas onto the maf and all down around the plenum. It's a long story but that maf will probably have to be replaced now.

I guess I am like Bogus and just keep changing stuff. I would stop if i could but it's just to damn fun to look at the car and not change something....LOL.

P.S. Happy Thanksgiving Guys and Gals! It's about the family your with and not the food!

Good too see you back, Kid! Long time no posting.

As for making power from the SBC, that isn't a problem with your version, the Gen I. It's easy AND cheap. What isn't easy is Gen II that I have and the retrofitting of the LT1 to the L98 isn't a piece of cake. I don't advise it. The wiring is just not friendly. The upside is that there are a lot of harnesses available, either via conversion or what not, to make the LSx work. And the LSx does have a lot of benefits, it's the SBC, but only better. It's lighter and can produce gobs of power.

how does an injector squirt gas into a MAF? That makes no sense... it would just flow into the valve seat and flood out the cylinder. Odd. Don't replace anything until it dries out.

Glad you got the debt thing sorted. That's more important than any hot rod.

Have a great Holiday!

Ill pm you details as soon as I get an update......It went up into the plenum, leaked out the front of it and then went into the maf. It was literally pouring out.....

That sounds like the cold start injector went cwazy. I would think the MAF is ok. Let it air out. Should be fine.
