I think KwikLift is out of business. They haven't answered their phone for over a week, and now the website is not to be found.

oh, now that's bad...

I did some research... and learned nothing. No press releases, no new reports, nada.

I see their website is down. It was up a week ago when I looked. Weird.

Have you considered any other lifts?

I'm supposed to go look at a used KL locally.

Well, ASSuming they did go under...would you be able to get repair/replacement parts?

There's nothing on any of these lifts that you can't get, probably locally. Cylinders- local rebuild. The valves, pumps and limit switches are std. stuff - Northern Tool, Granger, etc.

Bill took the words right out of my mouth.

Even if you have to do minor machine work to retrofit some parts, it won't be so prohibitively expensive to do so.

Check craigslist and ebay.

I forgot kwiklift is the smaller one that only goes a couple feet up, I thought it was a two post/four post system with extensive hydraulics, etc. Shouldn't be a problem then.

Even those are simple hydraulics, Matt (I was in the hydraulics industry a long time ago).

A 2 or 4 post has a up/down valve (typical of a small tractor's front bucket) and a hyd. pump with pressure relief, typical stuff. The locks are mechanical, cable applied.

The powersteering on your car's more complicated than these.

I think TeeBee just had his cylinders rebuilt locally.

Kwiklift is not hydraulic. It uses a bottle jack to raise the two ramps about 18" off the floor. I can't imagine them going out of business as they sell a great product for the price but what the heck some bigger and better companies have fallen before.

Hope you find them...

Not in my opinion, Don. Especially for the list price, just as bad as raceramps.
#1,400 for something that's not even powered?
For $300 more you can get a 4 post lift that's powered and has a lot more steel in the construction. Kwiklift must have a nice gross profit.

And they take up a boatload of room, can't even pull a wheel without another jack. No thanks.

I agree. I would rather have a good high lift jack and some heavy duty jack stands. I have a friend that has a lift at his house and he asked if he could bring his car to my garage so I could swap an engine for him. Hoists and jacks and such don't work well with lifts.

Bob, if you like the lift, buy one.

With what Matt, said I just think it's a limited tool like Raceramps, Ok for oil changes and few things under the car but not much else. And way overpriced (for a new one).

Had one.

Did not find it useful.

The one good thing about it was I bought used and sold for a profit a few years later.

From the "other side", a quote:

"Due to drastically reduced sales over the past two to three years and rising fabrication cost we can no longer sustain. We have been unable to secure financing for continuation. Effective February 27, 2012 we are forced to close business. All future correspondence should be sent to Kwiklift, Po Box 2952, Broken arrow, OK 74013"

Welp, that about does it. That statement sounds pretty conclusive.

I wish they would leave an announcement on their website and not make people guess for a week.

I did have my cylinder rebuilt by the local hydraulic place. Wasn't chump change, but it wasn't a new cylinder either.
