Good Morning Guru's.......the wind isn't blowing which is a good thing. Not much else going on out here.....just work and summer fun.

Out here we have a race called the Sandhills Open Road race up by Arnold that has turned into quite an event. People come from all over the country to compete in it. It's a road race and they have a standing mile run also...I think I will go up this year and check it out.

Here is a vid of a record run set by a Monte Carlo 700 hp...the womans voice can be annoying but she is a good navigator...

Good morning! The forecast is calling for 100% chance of rain today, which is great as it's been almost 24 hours since the last storm. I'm sure the crews that are out repairing downed power lines and trees will welcome a refreshing shower.

Have a good day, everyone!

Add me to 100% chance of precipitation list. The Keys have already set new records and US one is closed in spots due to flooding. What makes that interesting is they are islands surrounded by water. Poor drainage maybe?

Morning guys....I've had a little setback. Yesterday I was working in the basement on a computer, I just started to get up out of the chair (swivel seat) and the seat twisted, putting a twist on the knee. It shot one heck of a pain up to my hip. This morning I'm sore and it hurts to pull my leg up, so I've lost a few degrees of motion. PT this morning, not looking forward to this session.

Cool front moved through and it is supposed to be a bit cooler today, upper 80's low 90's.

I got to get ready to go, I'll check in later.

Decent course, there's no bif drop-off like the open races here.

Cornering in an open road race is a bit different because you're dealing with the crown in the center of the road (for water runoff). So in going from one side of the road to the other in a corner, you have to cross the crown twice.
That loads & unloads the chassis exactly where you don't want it to - part of the fun.

That stuff could be a lot of fun if you could become dark enough. Maybe even help you qualify for scholarships, job selection or other perks. Think of how you could amaze friends and families at parties.

Maybe it's time to start saving for a personal home theatre. I could change my livingroom into a darkroom. That would be cool. I have three or four years to save up when these will be selling for half the price and then the new 160" TV's should be hitting the shelf. How long can it be before someone introduces a house with built in TV walls? Full feature surround ........ Whoa!

The new low volume toilet that my wife wanted has been installed. Her cousin put it in a few days ago. Not that we needed a low volume toilet. We're on well water. So far it has been able to handle everything I can throw at it.

Ah, low water volume ......... Tank storage is a couple of gallons. It flushes first time everytime, so far. My guess is it could easily handle a whole pizza plus dessert. The true test would be Thanksgiving dinner.

That's all you can legally get now. A good 5 gal flusher is worth its weight in gold in the right places.....although we just put in a new low vol toilet in the office and so far so good. It stands taller also which is nice........what else do you want to know....?

Maybe something adjustable.

This rainy weather brought out my aches and pains ... everywhere. I had to assemble some premium wood yard furniture my wife picked up at Big Lots. Some log Adorondak looking stuff made in China. They marked summer stuff down 30%. Of course it's always summerlike in Miami so might as well take advantage of the discount. Upon reading the directions, I decided it was better not to follow the directions. I got confused on the first line. Instead I looked at the box and the diagrams. That seemed to work out. One of the items was damaged so had to bring it back. They didn't have anymore so we took the display piece. One less chair to put together. Now I'm hungry. I'm thinking of throwing together a nice omlette with a little of this and a little of that with a healthy portion of cheese melted in. Off we go .....

What's "premium wood" in China? - not a two by four??

Sometimes the "assemble yourself kits" are a good buy, I have a corner cabinet that was laying in a clearance pile at Lowes that I got for $30, it actually looks pretty nice.

Ya ... I was joking about the premium. I was referring more to Big Lots. Big Lots is a big discount store. They tend to deal in CHEAP. I score some good deals there on throw away paint bruches and painting supplies, R134 at $8.88 a can, grass seed, car cleaning items, gardening items and so on. The finish coat on the outdoor funiture was sprayed with clear laquer only on the top and front. They didn't spray the back or underside. I'm gonna get some clear and spray it myself. In this hot humid climate, wood needs all the help it can get. Wifey just wanted a sit down area out in the yard. That means there are now twenty chairs in the patio and back yard alone. Plenty of seating options. There are another 27 seats in the house and three in the front yard. So basicly, I could invite 50 of my closest friends and family members and evrybody would have a place to sit. I try not to do that anymore. 6 to 10 people is usually more than enough for me.

Update on the Moquito Magnet. The bag area is filling up with those blood sucking little bastards. It appears to be working.

Big Lots here too.

What about Helmspar varnish? They have it at HD.

I've used it on the trim inside the house.

Helmspar kinda indicates boat stuff. I'd have to go down into the shop to look at a can and see what it says.
