Good Morning CGs!

Happy Labor Day to everyone. I hope you all have the day off to enjoy with your family, bbq, and relax. I am not so fortunate.

I worked late last night so didn't make any progress on the car. Maybe tonight, although I also want to get a run in since I haven't run in about 3 or 4 days now. Tough when there aren't enough hours in the day.

How was everyone's weekend? Anything exciting?

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Good morning.
We tend to avoid the crowds on most holidays and it's still too dayum hot to enjoy a nice outdoor BBQ. Instead we plan on going fishing on Wednesday when everybody is back to work and we'll have the whole bay and ocean pretty much to ouselves. Pay the bills, and clean up the house is the on the agenda for today. Wifey is working. She got a call to move two sculptures. Maybe I'll start getting the stuff ready for Wed. Hope y'all enjoy your day whatever you do.

Last weekend we were at a neighbors house celebrating a birthday. While we were sitting on the patio, someone noticed a snake swimming in the pool. One of my other neighbors, a biologist at Everglades National Park, picked up the snake gently, looked at it and released it a few feet away. It was a coral snake. I'm not a big snake fan and keep my distance from all snakes, venemous or not. Poisonous creatures all back me up. Black widows, brown recluse spiders (Which you never see. That's why recluse is part of their name.), scorpians and anything else that requires anti-venom injections. We even have pygmy rattlers and water moccassins here. I'm always walking around barefoot or in sandals. Then I read this ...........

I use the Ortho stuff from HomeD especially in the garage and outside at the doors/windows.

It works really well and lasts 4+ months.

Doesn't bother snakes though.

Morning guys....I slept pretty good. It's hot still today, about the same as yesterday. Good thing the AC in the truck works good. Over in the next town, they have a big Labor day parade and celebration. We might go over for the parade and then head on home.

A Better Military?

I am over 60 and the Armed Forces thinks I'm too old to
track down terrorists. You can't be older than 42 to
join the military. They've got the whole thing ass-backwards.
Instead of sending 18-year olds off to fight, they ought to take
us old guys. You shouldn't be able to join a military unit
until you're at least 35.

For starters, researchers say 18-year-olds think about
sex every 10 seconds. Old guys only think about
sex a couple of times a day, leaving us more than 28,000
additional seconds per day to concentrate on the enemy..

Young guys haven't lived long enough to be cranky, and a
cranky soldier is a dangerous soldier. 'My back hurts! I can't
sleep, I'm tired and hungry.' We are impatient and maybe
letting us kill some terrorists that desperately deserves it
will make us feel better and shut us up for awhile..

An 18-year-old doesn't even like to get up before 10am . Old guys
always get up early to pee, so what the hell. Besides, like I
said, I'm tired and can't sleep and since I'm already up, I may
as well be up killing some fanatical son-of-a-bitch.

If captured we couldn't spill the beans because we'd forget where
we put them. In fact, name, rank, and serial number
would be a real brainteaser.

Boot camp would be easier for old guys.. We're used to getting
screamed and yelled at and we're used to soft food. We've also
developed an appreciation for guns. We've been using them
for years as an excuse to get out of the house, away from the
screaming and yelling.

They could lighten up on the obstacle course however... I've
been in combat and never saw a single 20-foot wall with rope
hanging over the side, nor did I ever do any push ups after
completing basic training.

Actually, the running part is kind of a waste of energy, too... I've
never seen anyone outrun a bullet.

An 18-year-old has the whole world ahead of him. He's still
learning to shave, to start a conversation with a pretty girl.
He still hasn't figured out that a baseball cap has a brim to
shade his eyes, not the back of his head.

These are all great reasons to keep our kids at home to learn a little
more about life before sending them off into harm's way.

Let us old guys track down those dirty rotten coward terrorists. The
last thing an enemy would want to see is a couple million pissed off
old farts with attitudes and automatic weapons, who know
that their best years are already behind them.

HEY!! How about recruiting Women over 50...in menopause!!!
You think MEN have attitudes??

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh my God!!! If nothing else, put them on
border patrol. They'll have it secured the first night!

Good morning and Happy Labor Day, all.

Raining here outside of Philadelphia. Been raining since mid-morning Sunday and supposed to keep going on and off until some time on Wednesday.

My best male friend was in town Friday evening through Sunday morning, so that was our excitement for the weekend. The tally:

one long steakhouse dinner Friday evening
watched 80s music videos until 1:30 AM
big breakfast late Saturday morning
driving around town for several hours in the Centennial
cheesesteaks for dinner
watched bad college football
my wife's excellent blueberry pancakes Sunday morning

*rubs eyes* - Is it time to get up already?

Greetings! One of the few advantages to living in the Frozen Tundra is that we apparently have city ordinances prohibiting all those poisonous critters, since I never see them around here. That, and the 6 months of no yard work.

Not much on the agenda today, but I think I'll stick my boroscope down the dryer vent and have a look. Probably a good idea to do that every decade or so, just on general priciples. A friend was recently wondering why their dryer wasn't working well, and pulled a couple bushels of lint out of the vent.

Have a great Labor Day, yawlz!

Geeze, I got up at 5.

On Labor Day, I rushed my labor - changed the oil in the pickup and washed the C4 before 9 a.m. only to find out thet the 9 a.m. broadcast of NHRA had been rained out.

LOL. The in car cookie baking reminded of the days when I would get into a hot car wearing just a pair of shorts or bathing suit. Sit on a scorching leather or vinyl seat, burn back of legs, lean backward, burn back. Then scream some phrase about fornicating mothers. Another reason I came to dislike temps in the higher spectrum.
Not an issue today though. Mother Nature has once again decided to give the plants a drink.

Had a weird passing thought today.(Not that that ever happens) But I thought about different phases of my life and how they were grouped. Like the kindergaten years, elementry school years, mid school, high school, military, carpenter apprentice years, early Post Office, mid career Post Office, late Post office and now the retirement years. The women, the locations, the cars I drove and lifes experiences I had in each stage. In each phase, I was like a deer getting caught in the headlights but learned much through each segment. I know I'm sounding like an old fart, but that's because I'm becoming an old fart, one day at a time. There are a few things I wish I never did but all and all I wouldn't have changed much. Getting older certainly has it's advantages. With all my experience, the only thing I'm missing is a windfall .............

Hey, Rich - I got a cheap pressure washing from Sams Club last year. $100! Does engines real good.

I have two hose taps on the house... however, one has its own meter - we don't pay sewer on that one, just water. So I run this long ass hose from front to back to do the back yard and such. Well, the long ass hose I bought last year was a real piece of shit. It kinked (yea, kick proof my ass) and got scuffed on the driveway. I moved it to the other side of the house to keep it safe. however, those scuffed areas keep exploding!!! Twice in the last month! So replaced that piece of shit... new hose. no explosions so far.

Watered the lawn, washed the Vette... almost too warm, the water was drying before I could hit it with the Absorber.

heading out for a bit.

later all!

Well, that went fast, I was only in the casino a half hour.

In the last 15 minutes, the machines sucked up $30 faster than a Z06.

Course in the first 15 minutes, I was up $230.00

You gotta know when to hold em, know when to.......

Watered the lawn, washed the Vette... almost too warm, the water was drying before I could hit it with the Absorber.

heading out for a bit.

later all!

I know what you mean

Overall, I've won about $100,000 at the casinos.

I've spent about $120,000 doing it.

Yea, easy peasy.

Actually, it's not good to win early in the visit, you're havin' fun yada, yada.

At least today, I left before becoming stupid.

So that $200 is new front coil springs and swaybar bushings and maybe enough left over to get the little green labels for the springs that cost $5,
