Without reviewing their list, this is mine:
1. Electronic fuel injection/engine management 2. ABS 3. Traction control 4. Aerodyamics 5. Tire tech in general 6. Crash safety To pick just one? Damn... That's killer hard. They have all been huge advances, but I would have to pick the one that has been around the longest and has had the greatest impact over time and that would be EFI/Engine management systems. Without that tech, we would not have 640hp Corvettes getting 21mpg on the highway... And passing smog and noise regs... and have AC and leather and stereo... Without that tech, we would all be driving the modern equivalent of a 1979 Civic with a 1bbl carb with marginal electronic controls. Let's see what they say! |

much of what they are applauding, is, in my opinion, a result of the peace dividend. Those materials came from jet fighter research in the 70s and 80s.

Or since 1963? |

Since All time I'd say Driver Restraint (belts and bars).
In the past 50 years (1963) I'd say aerodynamics. |

I think it was when they put a supercharger on the front of a Duesenberg engine. Or when they got 1,000 hp out of a tiny V12 F1 engine that the driver actually had to drive. |

I think steering wheels were a pretty key innovation.
Sudden stops were pretty painful prior to that. |
