Girl friend ha a bad back. The ride of the 87 keeps her out. Good part.
How does a smother ride affect handling. Looking for solutions . Or excuse to give her.

Sell car...buy Cadillac. Instant smooth ride.

I think you are SOL....smooth ride and C4 are not terms commonly used in the same sentence....unless it is "the C4 does not have a smooth ride".

well... you can help it...

1. Banski rear suspension kit. Frees up the rear end and allows the suspension to move as it should.

2. coil overs, at least in the rear where ride quality comes from. Get springs about the same as the rate of the fibreglass spring, I think you will be happy with that.

3. Go with base ACDelco shocks instead of the Bilsteins...

That'll take care of it.

For once I agree with Matt. You give your back a workout just climbing into a C4 and you haven't even started it up yet. To make the ride less painful I recommend Aleve or ibuprofen along with stretching exercises before engaging.

I tried Tommy's idea. No sence of humor

New shocks will make the ride stiffer.

YOU'D THINK SO, BUT AFTER I PUT BILSTEINS ON MY '87 IT SEEMS TO RIDE SMOOTHER. MAYBE I'M JUST CRAZY.

When I replaced old Bilsteins with new Bilsteins (same specification) the ride got notably better with no other changes. Ivelis tested, Ivelis approved.

thumbup

I think getting shocks that are up to specification helps the whole suspension system work more effectively.

Yea... my KYBs turned to rocks as they got older. I have no clue why, either.

How many miles? I changed mine at about 53,000 miles and they were original.

Tires can make a difference....I have found. When I bought my 90 it had some 10 year old tires on it and I changed to a new set of Kumo's and that helped a lot. I am sure you do not have 10 year old tires though.....

Which springs do you have?

If you have the stiff ones there's always someone looking to swap the soft one for the soft ones.
