ON MY '96, TIRES ARE NITTO NT SSS EXTREMO, P275/40 ZR17 98W FRONT; P315/36 ZR17 102W REAR.

CORVETTE SPEC BOOK GIVES 35PSI FOR STOCK TIRES, NO PRESSURE LISTED FOR GS SIZE. OWNERS MAN ONLY SAYS 35PSI FOR SUSTAINED HI-SPEED DRIVING. CAR DOOR SAYS 30PSI. ACCORDING TO CODE CAR CAME WITH RUN FLAT TIRES ORIGINALLY.

SO WHAT SHOULD I BE RUNNING?

I will guess......30 psi 35 seems a bit high to me....at 30 when they warm up it will be 33 or so and at 35 would be up at 37 psi or more on a warm day....others will know for sure.

First, the temp rise from cold to hot depends on the amount of water vapor in the air you are using - drain your compressor
Asphalt temps and where you're driving (spirited back road vs highway) also make a difference.

Low cold pressures will actually make the tire run hotter after they warm up.
And, on some tires, 30psi will make the car wander on the road bumps.

Run what's on the door sticker.

If you decide to run on a race track - run what's on the door sticker.

I run 35 on the 92 at all times including the track.

Yes, they do feel better after they warm up.

The only way to really get it correct is to take tire temps, hot.

Like the other said, depends on the driving.

5psi can really change the way the car handles/rides

Compressor:
Interesting, is there a way of draining a small portable compressor?

Remove the hose fitting.
