Those were surely troubled times. I heard lots of WW II stories from some that made it home. I met 2 Bataan survivors, Iwo Jima vets, bomber pilots that flew over Germany, a guy that played in a military band in Europe and others. After a field victory the band would march through the streets playing for the villagers, the soldiers and the brass that came to deliver encouraging speeches. Coming from a line of war and conflict veterans I listened to the stories of those that were willing to tell. My mother, former mother in law, and friends of the family have told me stories of what happened in Berlin and occupations by the Russians, Americans and Germans of other areas. The true atrocities of war are unfathomable. Disturbing really. Every picture tells a story, don't it?

War machines....I wish we didn't ever need them but they fascinate me.....mankind can come up with lots of ways to kill each other....
