Great story from the war Tom.....because of a paperwork glitch the tail gunner flew a mission he should not have and paid the ultimate price....geez....

So we have another big mess out in California.....with many good folk gone and others injured.....I am thinking what are the reasons that we have come to this. I remember when this kind of thing never happened......what changed over the years? What has brought on this culture of death that we now live in? Is TV violence part of the equation? Violent games the kids play on their play stations? When did lives become cheap, was it when they allowed abortion to become everyday? Is it the fault of the liberals whose tolerance manifesto has let this culture thrive in the last 30 years.......?

I do not know the answers and if any of you do I would like to know what the hell is going on......will we all be required to pack weapons to insure our safety.....and what about the Muslims, they are not going away but we can still deal with them in this country due to the smaller numbers of them that live here. Not so in Europe. It may be a non ending war that we will always have to fight and Obama wants to let more of them in........not a good idea.

.....anyway those are my musings on this clear bright morning........but gotta go to work now. Stay safe Guru's.....

Methinks that the only way around all the tragedy is to live on a private island where residents are by invitation only. Policing would be up to the residents. Being an island it would not be wise to irritate the masses.

It's a nice day here today. Still kinda wet from all the rain we've had this week but it's drying out fast and tomorrow should be nice enough for me to drive the 72 to work.

FYI-
Trump was giving a speech at the Fairgrounds last night but it was so packed you didn't get there early, your couldn't get near the place... I mean traffic backed up and once you got on the property people were standing outside the building in the rain and cold in a line just to get a glimpse of the man.

He covered a lot of stuff and jumped around from subject to subject a lot... you could tell he was speaking off the cuff mostly. Everyone loved it.... well except for a small group of paid protesters in the back, it was a pretty good show.

I hope he comes back and does it again. With Virginia being a big battle ground state in the general election, I'm sure he will.

Finished the counter tops. Gave the people the bill and she said "I was expecting the materials alone to be that much." I told them that I marked up the materials as I always do and charged them the labor. They were VERY appreciative of the product and the cost. I went over to help my buddy install a door and when I got home there was a message on the voice-mail, "You haven't cashed that check yet have you? I wrote it on the wrong account." So I called and told them "No, I haven't deposited yet." He says "I'll come over and swap checks with you." So he comes over and we swap checks, I lay the new check on the counter, and I look at it, they wrote the check for $400 more than the original bill. I guess they were really happy about my work.

We, meaning, bastet44, myself and NelsonV, along with 2 other friends not on the Guru, play team trivia every Wednesday night.

Have been doing this for 8 years now.

The last month has been rather significant - on 11 Nov, we did something that has only ever happened in our network a handful of times, we scored a perfect game! 130/130! First time ever for us, first time ever in our bar!

Since then, we have backed it up with 3 more wins, 124, 107 and 114.

Last night, we were in third place, bet the max points for the last question (20), and got it right where everyone else got it wrong!

It was a true team game, too... we each have our thing and we all contribute.

I went back over to take some pictures, and when I saw the lady, I said "You know, you wrote that check for more than the bill, right?" She says, "Yes, we talked it over after you left and we were expecting the total to be much more than it turned out. And we thought it was worth more than you charged." I need to preface this with, when they asked me to do the job, they NEVER asked how much it was going to be, they were trusting from the start.

LOL. Sue has done that a few times but the compensation was not so generous. She'd say "Give me what you think it's worth.". It ended up costing her money. She doesn't do that anymore. 50% down 50% upon completion. If they say "That's more than I want to spend."she says "Then I'm not your girl.". or "We can take off some of the plants."
