Is retarding the timing moving it closer to Zero ? Or is it the opposite ?

Advanced is moving beyond zero and retarding timing is moving it back toward zero, yes.

Thanks Notorius, I've put in a chip and it says to retard timing if a knock becomes present, of course it does. I didn't want get the present setting screwed before I start.

I never owned a car/truck that fired after top dead center. All were several degrees before TDC. If you are retarding the timing you are removing some of the degrees before TDC. Later! Frank

Thanks guys , its done. I knew the setting was at 6 * BTDC. I have adjusted it many times, but never knew the terminology of retard and advance. I feel like a retard sometimes when I go thru so much with this car and it still acts up.
