I got tired of cleaning out my wallet at the gas pump filling up my '98 GMC 4x4 so I got rid of it. My new DD is an '87 El Camino SS. An original Texas car with absolutely NO rust anywhere. The Vette is still number one by a long shot but this is definitely second in line.

Okay, I figured I'd catch hell for not posting pics. Photobucket is not working for me, everytime I try to resize the pic it kicks me out. I'll post pics as soon as I can.

ROTF!! That's a keeper!!

This may be blasphemy to some, but it would seem to be the ultimate El Camino to me:

I've seen it all too many times. And no, it's not the ultimate El Camino, it's just a f***ed up Corvette!
I won't give you any additional shit for not posting pics, Midnight, since so many others already have!
I've always dug El Caminos and Rancheros, they're just unique and cool vehicles. You could drop an LTx or LSx engine into it, make it a screamer and likely get even much better mileage yet. No, I'm not trying to corrupt you or anything.....
Some years ago I swapped a nice 400 small block into one of these last generation El Caminos for an older guy. Okay, so he was about the age I am now. :sad3: Anyway I think it really scared him. He got rid of it not long after.
He was not really a hot-rodder. He just wanted something better than the 305 and well, he got it!

Without a lot of weight in the rear they break loose pretty easy under a lot of power. I was looking at some modified El Caminos once. Lucky for me, I got hooked on sports cars.

I appreciate that since Photobucket must be AFU, every time I try to resize I get kicked off the 'net altogether.

For a few bucks in materials and a little geometry, GM's crappy rear link set-up can be corrected to solve that problem.
