Bought new weatherstripping from Wilcox) halo, hatch and windshield rubber. I have reolaced the halo and hatch weatherstripping and that alone has made such a noticable differance to the noise level insdie the cockpit! I started the windshield phase by trying to rmove the trim moldong around the windshield. I can not figure how to "break" loose the pilar trim once the 3 screws are removed. Plus I am not sure how to drop the sunvisors once I remove the locking nut. Any guidance (w/photos) would be tremendous. Thanks in advance....

UPDATE w/photos!!!!!
After the advice I did the weatherstripping today. Here is what the old ws looked like before removing it:

After the removal and a bit of elbow grease and time:

Then the new ws installed:

And the factory fresh look with the targa installed:

I didn't have to remove the visors on my 85. The A piller w/strip is only held in by push-nuts at the corners, and maybe the plastic around the roof attachments. You might also find some of the goo from the windshield epoxy is holding in place in some parts so you might destroy it removing it.

Let us know how it goes.

Guys, I really appreciate the input. I'll attempt the removal and install tomorrow while I am off. Want to get this done before I fly out Sunday. Like I said before the hatch and halo weatherstripping wasn't all that hard to pull, clean and install. Total time took about 1 1/2 hours.

Looks great! It's on my to-do list - I think I can wait another year or two, but am getting some cracks and ratty corners. No leaks yet, anyway.

If the administrators and/or mods think this is unappropiate please delete it, I am only doing this to help Guru members save a few dollars for their C4s.

If you go to www.wilcoxcorvette.com they have the windshiehd, halo and hatch weather stripping on sale:

B470 FORUM 1984-1996 Weatherstrip. Header and Pillar 84-96 $85.00 (windshield)
x2172F 1984-1996 Weatherstrip, Rear Hatch 84-96 $50.00 (hatch)
B474 FORUM 1984-1996 Weatherstrip. Rear Roof and Side Window 84-96 $85.00 (Halo or rear roof)

The only catch is, to get these prices you must be a member of (CF) and order before 31 Mar 08.

I am not supporting CF but occasionally there are a few good deals from their supporting venders just as there will be from the Corvette-Guru supporting venders. Hope this helps some of the Guru members.

unlike CF, we don't care about cross linking sites that help the members.

That is a GOOD DEAL !!..I purchased a kit last Fall and nearly paid $300.00 without the rear hatch seal...If their seals are as good as their carpet this is a keeper

hm. never heard of tires easy. Check that one out.

I have had such great success with The Tire Rack, that I have no interest in dealing with other vendors!!

Went to the site and all I got were tons of pop-ups and some "similar links" search engines

I've already gotten mine from them, but for those like myself who've been permabanned from brand X (bastards still haven't told me why! ) and can't get to the link, I'm going to e-mail Wilcox and ask them to extend or include our site in thier group purchases.

hey CF JMHO

Shadow,

I never thought of sending Wilcox an e-mail asking them to include the Corvette-Guru as a sponsering forum. That is teriffic and it extends the special to fellow Corvette-Guru members as well. Thanks!

Notice that Willcox Corvette is spelled with two l's. That may be why you had trouble searching them before. I bought my weatherstripping kit from them and am very pleased with the fit, finish, quality, and price of their product as well as their service.
