Good morning CGs!

Welcome to August! Gosh, does the time seem to fly, doesn't it. Seems like just yesterday it was July...

Well, I'm sitting here with the rugrat on my lap trying to type. She's being pretty cooperative for the most part. A little fussy, but not too bad. Wifey went out to run some errands and get her nails done. Hey, whatever keeps her happy.

I planned on playing with the vette a little today, but I'm not sure how the schedule will work out. I've been slacking lately and haven't really done anything with it for the past 2 weeks. Oh well, life gets that way sometimes.

Anyone have big plans for the weekend? Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Good Morning Gurus!

No real plans for the weekend. Just chillin' with my home peeps, I suppose.

My kids go back to school in two weeks. Seems like they've only been out for a month.

My daughter will be a senior in HS, my older son (The Boobie Grabber) is going into fourth grade, (just got his fourth belt in Tai Kwon Do last night) and my youngest will be in pre-school. I don't mind telling you, I will NOT miss paying for full-time daycare. $400 a month for one kid. And at one time I had two kids in full-time daycare over the summer. I don't know how we survived that, financially.

Of course all of the daycare savings have already been chewed up by insane energy costs, that trickle down to everything we buy. FAHK!

I hope my daughter gets some kind of scholarship help for college. YIKES!

But overall, life is beautiful, so things are good. Food on the table. Vette in the garage. w00t!

Hang with the wife. Do more chores. Todays chores are all yard related. Clean, cut, trim, mow etc.. The weeds grow like crazy in the summer. Sweatin to the oldies. Is yardwork considered exercise?

I thought I'd have money after the kids were out of diapers. Then I thought I'd have money after they were out of daycare. Then I thought I'd have money after paying for braces. Then I thought I'd have money after paying for cars and insurance.

Getting bedroom furnishings as we speak. Wife is running that show at the house and I am still stuck at work but plan on sneaking out real early here in about an hour. Getting ready for the yard sale tomorrow and the party.

College doesn't have to be expensive.

But I think it hurts the middle-income families most because they have a hard time getting any financial aid.

The best favor my parents did for me was being broke... so I did well with financial aid. Grants paid about 15% of my expenses, and subsidized loans covered most of the rest of it, but I was able to come up with half of the expenses myself by working part time during classes and full time during breaks.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd forgo the working during classes and spend more time in major-related club activities. But working full time during the breaks is healthy, it'll build a good work ethic, make classes feel like a welcome break, and if it's major related, will put you far ahead of the other candidates in the job search when you graduate.

Community college will save money too, but I've seen so many people lose motivation there and struggle or drop out. I wouldn't recommend it unless you have no choice.

Then I see people sending their kids to private schools and then bitching about the costs. Makes as much sense as bitching about the cost of filling the tank on your Humvee. There are some good public schools out there depending on what your major is.
