A '93 C4 A4. For my street tires, I am running TTII's, 9.5 front, 11" in the rear, GSD3. I also have my original sawblades, 8.5 front with perfectly good GSD3's, 9.5" rears with no tires. I am considering a pair of Michelin Pilot Sport Cups for the rear for the track. Any advice? I am concerned with the larger rear tires and weight on wheel bearing wear.

Kuhmo Victoracers (?). Sticky as hell. And I agree with using the narrower tires... but I would consider 9.5" all around.

Did you run those on your RC car Andy?

For RR you want similar tires F/B

If you put race compounds on the back and not thre front, it will understeer like a pig.

Speaking of understeering, my car came with the 8.5f/9.5r combo, it was just rediculous out there.

Though some do seem to love the 9.5f/11.0r combo out on the track.

My track setup is 12.0f/12.0r and I love it.

It'd be nice to have the ability to rotate everything.

I want to simply do a 17x9" or 17x9.5" setup on all fours to run 275s. I'm a cheapass though and don't like my wheel fitment options, or running an adapter, like I'm doing now.

I guess that I need to find two more 9.5" sawblades. In the beginning, I may just use the TTII's and GSD3s. I don't want to spend a lot more money until I find out if I get hooked on racing or not.

Do you have two sets of rims already?

Two different street compounds will make little difference. Two different R compounds may. However, at a beginner level, you will be so far away from the limits that I doubt you'll notice.

Also, resist the urge to over-tire a car. Everyone who races a vette seems to think that you need 315's or 335's on all fours. It takes a lot of HP and a lot of car to need that. YOu just end up with cold tires at the end of a session.

I run 275's on all 4. Occasionally I switch to 315's in the rear. I usually run the same laptimes, although it's more work with the 275's. Team mate won that NASA National championship on 275's square last year, as well.

My suggestion is always to buy some scrub R tires. they're cheap as hell ($50 - 75 a tire) and will last a newb for many events.

Every time I see that avatar pic, I think your vette is high centered on a freeway barrier.

Then I realize it's another car getting in the way.

Trying to picture what you're seeing...it's not too far off of reality, although not in this car. In my street car.

Why don't you take it and make me a cool playing card avatar like yours? Use anything but a Queen...

I'd do it but it took me 45 minutes just to figure out how to shrink down the full picture.

Glad I'm not the only one who takes 45 minutes to resize a pic.
I like the new avitar but what's with the orange license plate? We usually use that for novice drivers which you ain't.

For a noob on the track I would not recommend using track tires. Track tires will hold their line and hit the edge and then let go with no warning. If you have never used sticky tires like that, stick to street tires, which will howl and give you some kind of warning.

I like running on street tires as it translates better to everyday driving. Especially after drifting a bit on the cooldown laps.

It also makes going home faster. When I go to the track, I bring a helmet, lunch money, and a roll of painters tape to put numbers on the car.

Thanks, that is what I will do. I just spent $1500 on new tires and wheels for my Tacoma today, so new tires for the Corvette are out or the equation for a while.
