I'm looking for some vinyl records, anything from british 60s bands to gritty southern rock to over-synthesized 80s rock.
I'm sure some of you have got a ton of stuff sitting in the attic. Condition of the sleeves isn't real important, as long as the record is playable. Let me know what artists you have. Also I'm in SD if anyone happens to be local. |

No shit, seriously? I've got hundreds of old albums. Back in the seventies I used to buy at least one or two every payday. There are at least a few I'd part with. But if you buy any, I'm going to throw in an Air Supply album that an ex-girl friend left with me many years ago. Just warning ya'..... I have this morbid fear that I'll die before getting rid of it and it'll be found among my belongings.
BTW, I've always taken meticulous care of my albums. They were cleaned before every playing, never out of their sleeves except when playing, etc. Mostly rock and roll, probably wouldn't part with any of my old jazz stuff. |

I think a great way to procure more of these would be to offer a free digital copy back to the person that sends you the album. You might get a bunch for free that way.
I'm just sayin'... All mine went missing in 1990. Kinda pissed about it, but thanks to Napster (back in the day) I pretty much recovered everything. |

Hell - if he'll take the time to digitize my collection, I've got about 200 ready for ya....
Get busy recordin' boy...... I think that's the only reason I've kept mine - it's that "One Day I'm gonna record these" thing.... Same with the Laserdisc's, one day I'm makin these thing's DVD's..... (Before I'm asked, 150+ Laserdisc's)... |

Wow that is a great idea. I wouldn't want to offer that though without a high quality turntable and recorder. Mine is just a $150 unit from Technics.
Maybe I'll try recording one of mine to see how it comes out... Zeppelin III is about ready for the trash can, I think my dad passed the bong one too many times while listening to this one. |

Wow, I just took my stereo down (big job) to paint downstairs and went thru my albums. I was kinda amazed what was there that I haven't listened to in years.
I've seen the USB turntables at $150 probably without a cartridge but my turntable cost 5 times that back in the 70's. I also just saw the software and USB converter at Best Buy for $80. I have about 100 albums to convert. Kevin, let me know how your recording comes out. |

Ah, a man that was as serious with his vinyl as I was. In the 70's I read Audiofile and Stereo Review as much as I read HotRod. Bought a shitload of equipment. I had almost a grand in just the turntable and cartridge. I still have the DiscWasher and that insane Zappy static gun. I have a bunch of albums that were only played once or twice. I put them on cassette to listen to in the car and keep the albums pristine. Does Billy Cobham qualify as old jazz? |

I won't part with my collection.
I am in the process of converting to CD or MP3, but that will probably take the rest of my life. I have well over 1000 albums from the 20's to the present(yes, some record albums can be bought new). Maybe if you're good, I'll leave them to you in my will. |
