What a stinker!

Get ready to take a ride in my clean-n-shiny all-put-together no-electrical-problems, tight-as-a-drum car, I close the console glovebox, turn the key, and...

clickkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.

The console killed the battery. The lid was only layin' in back for 3 - 4 hours while I re-assembled the console. HUH?

Man I was hot - veins all poppin' out n stuff... Tried cold jumpin' with my Jimmy battery, since it wouldn't reach (one-car carport), and that's how dead it was.

So I'm gonna' get a new one this morning. I bought a Redtop for my '87, no problems. This one is 100% stock too.

What do you have?

Aside from jumping will it take a charge?

I have an interstate. Previously had a die hard that, well, died hard. You'll get 10 different answers from 10 different guys, but I'm happy so far.

Trickle charger is on it now. Didn't want to leave it on it overnight.

I'm sure it will charge, but when I had it out a few weeks ago, I couldn't find the 'Born on' date.

I have an inexpensive WalMart Battery. I've had it for a few years. It sat on a Battery Tender Plus for a very long time, and I just put it back into the car recently. It seems to be in great condition still and has held a charge for the past week while sitting in the car without the tender on it.

My car came with a Fleet Farm battery in it - I'm guessing it's 4-5 years old now. Works great.

Funny guy huh?

Well, that model probably still holds a charge better than mine...

Does the load test that they do at the Advance / Zone tell a lot about the battery? I'm headed there now, and don't know if I'll buy a premium, a budget one, or just get tested...

Try a Batteries Plus store. Twice they've sent me away after testing a battery and determining it was fine - would've been just as easy to sell me something I didn't need.

I charged it enough to start the motor, and they tested it, and said (with a printout) it was bad - not low on charge, but bad. Voltage was OK.

I'm gonna' leave it on the trickle charger tonight, and get them to plug in again tomorrow...

I buy Diehards, and then spend 1/2 hour every 2 years to replace the crap one for free. Actually this most recent one has maybe 4 years on it without issues, because I haven't abused it or ran it dead.

I've used Interstates in all of my vehicles for years. My second choice would be a Diehard. If you're not racing in Baja, you don't really need to spend the money on an Optima.
