Good morning CGs!

How was everyone's weekend? Ready to attack the new work week? Ha. I bet. I actually got a good night's sleep last night, which was nice. Last couple days I've been up about 5 times each night and just couldn't sleep. I think last night I slept 9 hours and only got up once....wow.

What's on the agenda for today? I've got two more days of work then off. I would like to start working on the intake if I have the time, but we'll see. Life tends to get in the way of these things.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

MONDAY MOVIE TRIVIA:

Name the titles of all 4 "Die Hard" movies including subtitles.

Good luck!

That's too easy! I'll let some others answer after they have thier coffee this morning.

I had a good weekend event though I had to work Saturday morning. I got some good stuff done on the car this weekend, and it looks good for driving it to Ocean City, Maryland on Friday for the Corvettes on the Boardwalk event.

As my other post this morning states, I drove the car to work today with no apparent problems. I'm still a worry wort and bite my nails over every little thing when it comes to the car. I'll be really happy if it gets me home this afternoon!!!

Have a good day -- chat later

Watching the market, looks like another friggin' delightful day. Waiting to see if the Tigers can put the Twins in the playoffs this afternoon by beating the White Sox, or if we have to go play Chicago tomorrow.

Don, I had the same trepidation after I finished working on my car last spring, but after a few days it went away. I'll bet she'll be solid as a rock for your trip.

Good Morning Gurus!

I took Thursday and Friday off last week, to get ready for the home appraisal, so this is my first day at work in four days. To say I don't wanna be here would be an understatement.

But, I'm off to see what kind of fires were lit while I was out.

Have a super day!

Not much chatter today...

I logged on to my favorite sport bike site this morning to learn that a long-time member from Canada, and all-around good guy was killed over the weekend during a group motorcycle run in Pennaylvania. His wife was with him, and she also passed away.

I never met the guy. Didn't know too much about him. But I know he was on the site every day, and was a stand-up individual. I feel like somebody kicked me in the guts.

I can't even begin to imagine how I'd feel if we lost one of you guys. Be careful out there, everyone.

What happened? I'm not sure if the risk of death makes a good case or a bad case for riding tandem.

I just went on a 200-mile ride yesterday with 30 others. We had one very low speed drop from a rookie. We average about 1 crash for every 20 riders (on very challenging twisties). Not exactly a good record, it means basically every run a bike and its rider are nursing their way home or on a flatbed tow. Probably about 50/50 people riding beyond their abilites, or beyond the conditions and not leaving enough margin to react to road debris or reckless cagers. I would like to think that every crash is avoidable, and maybe even forseeable, so that it can be learned from and benefit others.

I do not know the details of the incident. Mike was an experienced rider, and I'm told his Kawasaki Concours had between 1.2 and 1.3 MILLION miles on it.

The very short report in the PA paper said their bike went off the road, hit a mail box, and the passengers were thrown into a utility pole. Several other members of the site were with them at the time, but they will not comment about the specifics of the accident. Not sure what is up with that.

I never rode with a passenger. I suspect if you get a little squirrely it would make things harder to control, but that would not necessarily make me completely abstain from riding with someone else.

The guy and his wife were in their 50s, and I assume not into being stupid on the road. So I bet liquid or gravel was at least partially to blame for the accident. Total speculation on my part, though.

When I used to ride, I went on a few group rides. I tired of them quickly. I saw someone go down right in front of me, with no injuries, except the front brake reservoir on a brand new (at the time) R6. The kid was just nervous about riding in a group, and got a little wide in a turn, and touched a curb.

I had the ass end of my CBR900rr come loose on me once, and I target-fixated on a guardrail. But I got it hauled down quick enough to avoid incident. I would not have been so lucky if a car had been in the oncoming lane. What I would do different is just ride it out, I suppose...

None of this stopped me from riding, but today's read has me a little squeamish. A short trip to a motorcycle dealership would cure me, though.

Well, we had a few bikes in town this weekend, about 30,000.

Yep, 30k bikes, it's called "Street Vibrations" and was pretty insane on the roads.

Luckily, I spent both days at the race track.

Looked to me that there was one on the back of just about every bike.

See, if you had some tail on the ass-end of your bike, the extra weight distribution might have saved your butt.

Chris - that's too bad about your forum buddy. Bikes can be dangerous, even in the hands of experienced riders. One reason I got rid of mine once the baby came.

On a positive note gas was much cheaper today, paid $3.77 a gallon. Not too shabby compared to two weeks ago.

You can get gas? We are still in a shortage! Its half because the nut jobs are filling up at half a tank! On a good note, they filled my new van up to the top as they have their own gas pump at the stealership!
