Newbie here...Name is Bob...I own a 1985 Z51 4+3 tranny'd coupe. Medium Gray Metallic in color. Car has old school AR 17x9.5's and 17x11's on it with 275/40 & 315/35 BFG Comp TA's. High flow cat, muffler eliminators, tb bypass, descreened maf, underdrive crank pulley, airfoil, and bumped iignition timing...I have a ported plenum and mildly ported Edelbrock base for it as well...as soon as the AS&M Big Tube runners show up.
Figured I might as well post a few pics...

Welcome to C4guru!! Beautiful Vette I love the effect of the new rims and tires. Nothing like a set of 315's on the rear :D

Thanks. I agree 100%. I added the rims/tires and the window tint two weeks after I bought the car and it immediately changed the whole car's "attitude"...

Welcome Bob. Great looking car. I migrated down to Florida 6 years ago from Howard County, Md. Was a long standing member of the FreeState Corvette Club. Having a blast now with plenty of time to spend on the cars, traveling and doing whatever comes to mind.

Anyway...
The 85 Vette's been gone since June 2007...Sold it and bought something a little more high tech, a lot faster, and that doesn't require the Vette Tax. Bought it bone stock, swapped in a cam, a high stall torque converter, and some longtubes and run an 11 first time to track, with a best of 11.67@115.

my 85 Vette is still around, but now sports stripes down the hood and decklid, and a woodgrain interior kit...

Here is when I still owned it...

Bye guys...

1.64 was the normal and very repeatable, but I raised launch rpm just another 200 rpm's and got a 1.61, followed by a 1.58. That was also through stock catback, which has since been replaced by a much higher flowing setup.

That is on 275/50/15's, on a 10" wide rim. Zero weight reduction, and 100% stock factory suspension, nothing removed or modified suspension wise.

Here's a couple vids:

Very cool, what tire pressures do you run? I couldn't get consistent launches until I dropped down to 13 psi. It did better at 16psi, but was hit and miss. That was on a poorly prepped track though.

Mine seems to love 20psi.

Any less and it wants to spin. 20 is fine with me though. If I forget to pump them up for the drive back home, they are still plenty driveable at 20psi.

I pump the front skinnies up to 44psi and leave them there all the time.

FWIW, I run at Cecil County Dragway...one of the best hooking sea level tracks on the East Coast. That surely helps.
