Just after Christmas I get sick and didn't leave the house for ten days. Fuel in these parts was 1.65 for reg. Yesterday I take wifey out for a ride and fuel is 2.05
So I'm reading the net news and the bastards are telling me that fuel has gone up 12 cents since the big slide! HELLO?!?! WTF?!?! Those news writers got their blinders on???? |

It's because of the Israelis bombing gaza strip. Or because of the uh upcoming $350 billion tarp funds. Or uh.. Rosie's show getting cancelled. No wait, it's global cooling that's resulting in demand destruction.

Listening to daily market reports is always amusing, when the reporter attributes the movement of the market on any day, to some news event. And as well, the price of commodities. If you listen carefully, you can hear within short periods of time, contradictions - some of them direct. A few years ago, there was a violence flare-up in one of the African oil-producing countries, and gas went up a few days in a row, because of 'foreign oil dependence'. A week or 2 later, a hurricane stirred up, and gas jumped again, because of the 'threat to Gulf (of Mexico) oil drilling platforms'. Attach file: Screenshot.jpg (11.49 KB) |

The big oil companies need to raise funds. Afterall they have a whole new set of politicians to influence and that costs money.

They lowered the cost when demand went down because of our collapsing economy. Since we aren't buying more for less they decided to charge us more for less. They have to pay for those modern day weapon systems they're buying from the Russians and Chinese somehow. And Russia needs to make more money so it can broker more power so the rest of the world might actually take them seriously. It will all come full circle again when we have the next world war. We can join in because we're broke anyway. We might as well use up our oudated stockpiles. Then we can hire American workers to replenish the stockpiles and replace our aging weapons of war with all new and modern shit so the next generations can go out and fight for independence.

So right you are Tommy. Did you catch the movie "The day the earth stood still"? The ending would be believable if humans could live without conflict. But it is in our nature that our cultures remain unstable and we wage war with those that don't agree.

It's actually really close to where it was. Oil prices were out of line before due to speculation. Now, it's pretty much back in tune with gas prices. http://www.gasbuddy.com/gb_retail_price_chart.aspx?time=24 |
