Well I just hit 2 local CircuitCities and bought 2 DVR's (NOT TiVo which comes with an aggreement) with Digital tuners.

The TV's are still up there.
I actually caught the salesman telling someone they jacked the prices up before they lowered them

I'll watch the closure date, kinda like eBay, before I pick up one cheap

I stopped at one of their stores last week, but didn't see any compelling deals yet.

They never lower prices, always raise them, then discount.

Brian, What kind of prices were the DVRs ? I always thaught thet the Tivo, Direct TV and cable monthly rental charges were a real rip.

I went to one yesterday. As soon as I walked in the door, I checked out 'before' and 'now 'prices'. Looked like 10 - 15% off.

They said more trucks will be comin' in that they have to dump since they've bought it already.

I'm waitin' for 80% off.

On second thought, how 'bout this: you pay me 5%, and I'll haul it away?

Think they'll go for it?

$206

I got the last one in each store.

On the final store I asked if they had any.
The salesclerk said 'No'
I went over and check the shelves, sure enough the last one was sitting on another shelf. Must have been saving it. Not any more!

Hummm - $200 for a retail discount. Direct TV orders what, 20,000 at a time from Sony. They get them for $80 each, charge $5.99 a month. After 13 months, it's all profit.
And I'll bet if the first free one craps out, they charge you for the replacement.

Hey I thought only some of the CC's were going out of business.

Is it all of them?

I guess that's what happens when I don't watch TV. Darn.

Why the closeout?

I think my cable company charges about $10/month for one. I would actually use the cable if I had one.

We've had one for a couple years now from Charter and love it. Of course, then you wind up buying a huge USB drive to boot, since the DVR only comes with 80gb.

d@mn I'm liking this thing already

The tuner must be better because I get ALL THE CHANNELS upstairs now!!

Woohoo!

BTW it does NOT have a harddrive, so I'll either have to pick up some blank DVD
or
It can read USB

hummm...
I'll have to hook up my USB harddrive and see if I can record to it.
