The world was better when it went to pot. Many people today are just wacky. That's why it's great to be older and retired. You can just turn it all off.

My neighbor who is a retired cop and now has a fence company stopped by quickly to take a look. From what he told me I think he'll come in $1000 cheaper than the first guy I called. He said the same thing about it being an old, out of date unit blah, blah, blah. The one I'm getting has wifi, can be opened with a phone call or remotes and tracks when it's been opened. I think he can even modify it to wipe my a.... Never mind. He has one a little cheaper but he's hemming and hawing about how great this one is and EVERYBODY is getting it. Kinda have to go with the pro's. Has a battery back up as well so if the power goes out I guess you can still get in a few clicks.

Dreary day. Rainy and grey.

Mechanical gate opener at the house took a $#!+ today. I've been nursing it along for a couple of years now. The party is over and now I'll have to pay the piper (or the gatekeeper). 12 years old so I guess I got my money's worth. I think it'll cost me twice what I paid last time. The remote receiver and the motherboard are toast. Of course, the parts are obsolete and no longer in stock. So that's number one. Can bad things number two and three be far behind?

Good morning Gris - overcast here too and 38 when I left the house. Bout same high as you're gonna have, tomorrow will be nice though then I think rain moves in here. Got a quote pending already and found out late yesterday I lost a 30ft trailer wrap job because a tint dude next door "ballparked" the guy twice the normal price. Because he doesn't do that, instead of putting the guy in touch with me or the owner. So I talked to him yesterday to straighten all that out. He's got a semi cab he may bring me next, and I did tell him at least let me quote or try to match what you get elsewhere.
Tee I can see those photos, some very nice stuff in there!

38 AND CLOUDY THIS MORNING, KINDA DIM. THE PREDICTED HIGH IS 61.

THE FUNERAL WAS RATHER BRIEF, TWO YOUNG MEN IN DRESS BLUES TO FOLD THE FLAG, CLOSED COFFIN. I DIDN'T LIKE SAYING GOODBY TO A BOX.

NOTHING ON THE AGENDA TODAY, MAY GO CHECK ON THE TOMATO, MAY JUST VEGETATE. DECORATION ALMOST DONE, LEFTOVERS AND EXCESS BACK UNDER THE HOUSE, JUST NOT QUITE ;-)

BABY DAUGHTER AND FAMILY PLANNING TO STAY THE WHOLE CHRISTMAS WEEKEND, THAT WILL BE FUN.

ALWAYS FORWARD, GURUS!

Good afternoon - dead as a doorknob here. Not complaining really, not in the mood anyway, the sun is out therefore I want to be out. Glad y'all could help that lady, Tommy. People are horrible anymore, not like they used to be. Still a few good ones left. We help folks also if we see 'em. I do recall being a single woman on the side of the road more than once and was beyond grateful for those who helped me. It did cause me to learn to do what I could on my own, but an honest shop was much appreciated.
got a call back from the MRI and CT I had yesterday for this spot on the front of my hip that's still hurting, zip, nada. Back to square one. I do get an SI injection on the 8th, so we will see if that helps. If not, we go this way, if it does, we go that way. Just a waiting game and process of elimination. Thoughts are now that it might just be a fatty tumor that's grown legs and irritated my muscles and tendons. And, those wouldn't show up on a scan.

Sue stopped to help a young lady that ran out of gas near the nursery. Let no good deed go unpunished. She called me and I went up to help. The gas wouldn't go in with a gas can. Had some kind of double flap thingy. Sue clipped a stop piece off the gas can spout. Then she held the double caps open while I poured the gas. The 2020 Buick Enclave wouldn't crank and the shifter wouldn't come out of park Put a jump on it but that was not an issue as the car had plenty of juice. Just did that to amke sure. Followed any instructions we could find on google/youtube. Finally just called for tow truck. They drug it up on the truck and Sue went to the dealership and pulled it off the truck by the service bays. She then brought the young lady to work at a local McDonalds. Sue got off at around 05:30 and spent 4 hours helping the lady out. That's what we're supposed to do, right? Help someone in need. I guess the hundreds of cars that passed the girl didn't think that way. Many drivers were impatient and some even beeped their horns. LOL. People ...... You gotta love em. .... Or not. I'm just glad there are still SOME good people left in the world. But that pool of people shrinks more and more as time goes on.

Good evening - for a Monday, this sure has been a good one. Had to go to UAMS in Little Rock today, more scans trying to pin down one of the hip issues, which I can't figure out why it's so hard to do, just cut the thing open and fix it. Period. Traffic was a breeze even through Jacksonville, they got me in and out of both appointments, I had a good break inbetween, went downstairs and got a spinach artichoke grilled cheese and it was awesome and then there was a painist at the Steinway in lobby so I sat there a bit. Beautiful, then when I left another pianist and violinist were there so I listened to them a bit and left. Again, traffic was a breeze, been a good day. We got up yesterday, had breakfast then ran to next town over and shopped a bit, Arron asked for pants for Christmas to work in, normally almost a c-note for 1 pair, and went in Bargain Hunt and got the same ones he wears, 6 pairs for the same price as one pair at my normal store. Of course these may be seconds, or mismarked, not sure but they all work, all fit so he's good. Bought a blow up santa thing for the yard and came home and put lights all around the house.
Tommy, still praying for y'all and hope that you find your son soon, I can't imagine.
Tee, tried to look at photos, it said I had to have access?

Saw a picture of a homeless guy that resembled my son so I went 20 miles up the road to check it out. It was not my son from reports at the local gas station but another older guy. Still looking for sonny-boy.

Back home now so I resume my active chore list.

Good Morning CGs!

Cold here. Took the dog for a walk this morning and it froze me down to my bones. Guess that's winter.

Marcus, you're starting to sound like one of those Gen Yers that want a 4 day work week with 5 day pay...

Hope everyone has a great day!

COLD THIS MORNING, 30 ON THE FRONT PORCH, 32 AT THE BACK DOOR. NO POINT IN HAVING TWO THERMOMETERS IF THEY'RE GOING TO REGISTER THE SAME :-) THE SUN IS SHINING AND THERE'S NO WIND, 55 THIS AFTERNOON. THE CHEROKEES CAN LIVE WITH THAT.

MUST VENTURE OUT TODAY AND BUY CHRISTMAS CHEER FOR GIFTING.
SAD TO SAY I WON'T HAVE TO BUY MUCH THIS YEAR.

AUTO ROTATION DAY, BUT I THINK I'LL DRIVE THE WHITE ONE A LITTLE LONGER, MAYBE GET THE TOMATO BACK THIS WEEK.

THE HOUSE IS LOOKING RATHER FESTIVE, BUT IT'S HARD TO GET IN THE MOOD FOR MY FAVORITE HOLIDAY.

KEEP UP THE FIRE, Y'ALL!

Hey guys, Home from a quick trip east this weekend. Was up early yesterday morning to make it to Manhattan for #2 grandsons' graduation. It was a great time and so proud of this fine young man.

After taking him, his fiancé, a friend/classmate and another granddaughter (a K-State student) out to eat at Olive Garden, we headed to KC to visit the two daughters there.

This morning after visiting #3 and family, we headed home. Made a stop in Salina at an auto museum, "The Garage", to view a special display on the 70th Anniversary of the Corvette. They had some pretty impressive cars on display. A 53, not sure what VIN number, but one really fine example. They also had the DR1, the special 89 vert that GM built to test and see how a vert might work as a ZR-1...I saw this car at the NCM the first time we visited it back 2006. A very nice example of a 63 SWC. And my favorite, a 65 roadster.

Good Evening CGs!

Had a multi-state taekwondo training day today. Almost 200 kids from 7 states and Canada in one spot. Good experience. Jacob did alright. I was hoping seeing some top tier kids would light a little fire under his butt but he's still not there yet. It's not a technical skill issue, it's a drive / desire / aggressiveness issue. He'll get there one day but everyone is different.

Letty, any win is a good win in my book.

Marcus, speaking of haircuts the wife took Jacob to my new barber this week. Same thing, guy is about 75 years old. She said she had never seen someone cut hair that fast. That's how it was done. Hard to find nowadays.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Good morning, slept in last two days, not done much. watched Medea movies yesterday and went out to eat. Never bought scratchoffs at Kroger before, but did due to extra fuel points, got a $5 card and won 50 off it, not as much as a Tommy-style win but I'll take it. Got a small tree up, ordered some bubble lights off Amazon, not been in the mood or had the energy to do outside stuff. Next year I guess. At least a tree is up.
Agree with Marcus, say your prayers, and call yo mamma if you still have her

CLEAR, CALM, AND COLD THIS MORNING, 34 DEGREES GOING FOR 48. NOT SO WINDY AS YESTERDAY, THEY SAY.

DOG'S FED, I'M FED, ALL IS CALM, ALL IS BRIGHT AM GRISHEIM.
LOOKS LIKE AN UNEVENTFUL DAY AHEAD, APART FROM THE CONTINUING DECORATING.

I CAN IDENTIFY WITH THE WORDS OF A 90'S SONG: " WISHING THAT THE WAY THINGS ARE WERE THE WAY THINGS USED TO BE".

JUST KEEP ON KEEPING ON, Y'ALL.

Good Evening CGs!

Sorry it's been a long stretch without logging on.

Gris, sorry to hear about your friend. That's a tough deal. But happy belated birthday to you.

Tommy, I do all of my shopping online. Just easier.

Daughter had opening weekend for her first high school musical. She was ensemble with a small part but did well. I think she enjoyed herself and all the kids worked their butts off for practice and did a great job. I went this afternoon and the wife is going this evening.

Hope everyone had a great day!

Amazon is my friend. I love not going out to pick stuff up. I've been doing more and more online shopping as time goes on. Don't like to buy sensitive electronics online though, like TV's and computers. Too many opportunities for the delivery to go wrong. The bad thing though is I don't leave the house unless I have to or Still going grocery shopping too. Car stuff pretty much most of it online.

Forget about counting cards. They have automatic shufflers now and on the poker games Sue plays they use two decks dealing with one deck at a time. Either Lady luck is with you or not. On the slots, the machines seem to run hot and cold. They are factory preset and run on algorithms. The house is always gonna be on the winning side over time. To combat algorithms I play with Al Gore rhythms. Sometimes the machine and I are one with the universe. Other times the machines are like black holes. That's why they call it gambling. Right place. Right time. We play recreationally. Always more fun when you win. We do have a lot of playtime in so if experience is a factor we have that covered.

Yeah, let's see that blog, I need to learn how to count those cards too!
Beautiful and sunny this morning and now it's cooler and looks like it could snow any minute. Storms due tomorrow. Figures, I thought I *might* put some Christmas outside but reckon not. eye doc this morning, trying some new contacts that should be better for computer users, so far I'm not a fan. Feels scratchy in my eyes and like little suction cups. Keep having to blink. Im at the office today holding down my chair, making up for days I scheduled off week of Christmas. Turns out now, Arron wants to sit home all week and not go to the beach. He'd rather put what we'd spend on this trip toward a nicer one next year. I get it but heck I had my hopes set for a white sand Christmas.

Went to to a holiday party last night for the patients of one of Sue's doctor's. Sue's orthopedic surgeon was also there. Sue has a relationship with her dating back to 1989. The doctor hosting the party is a nerve specialist. He never charges his patients a dime. All we can figure is he is independently wealthy and helps people because his work is his passion. He flies back and forth between Cali and Miami. See's patients on both coasts. Sue's orthopedic surgeon is 71 and has no plan to retire. She still does surgery and is an adjunct professor at University of Miami School of Medicine. She was just recently approved to start a lab for one of the largest hospitals covering South Florida. She is also one of Sue's landscape clients. They are doing research on nerve stimulation and regeneration. A fascinating lady and as down to Earth as they come. After the party Sue and I stopped into The Hard Rock for a few hours. Bruno Mars was performing so the place was packed. They also launced online betting, craps and roulette. I know you guys probably don't want to here this. I had $80 and Sue had $85 of free play. I lost their $80 and put in $100. Within a half hour of our arrival I was $850 ahead. Sue had her ass handed to her on the slots so she headed to Ultimate Texas Hold'em. There she racked up an impressive $1550 in profit. I played around jumping machine to machine on the same bank of slots. Up and down . Up and down and ended the night with $1050 in my pocket. We're not always so lucky. Last Sunday we lost $200. Just want to keep things in perspective. I will say the last month or two we've been on a roll.

Hey guys, sorry Gris for the loss.

Nice day here, but the bottom falls out the next 36 hours.

I prefer to live in the past as well. The things going on today makes my head hurt, so I prefer stick my head in the ground.

Not a lot planned here today, piddle around in the shop.

OVERCAST, CALM, 60 DEGREES THIS MORNING. THE PREDICTED HIGH IS 65 AND IT COULD RAIN. NOT AN EXCITING PROSPECT.

WENT OVER TO MUSKOGEE FOR THE FAMILY JEWELER'S YEARLY HALF PRICE SALE; DW BOUGHT A GOLD CHAIN FOR DIL, TO ADD TO THE RING I HAD ALREADY GOT FOR HER. THEN TO THE CHINA KING BUFFET FOR SUPPER. THE EGG-DROP SOUP WAS NOT AS GOOD AS USUAL. NEW COOK???

THEY'RE OUT OF DINOSAUR BONES AT TAHLEQUAH; GOOD THING I HAVE SOME IN RESERVE :-|

NOTHING ON THE AGENDA TODAY BUT THE HABITUAL NAP.

TIME TO FEED TROUBLE THE WONDERDOG :-)

Good morning - so sorry for your loss of your friend, yes good ones are few and far between.
I'm like Tommy too, I adjust to society but some of it I'm not conforming to. Don't care for the indoctrination and such. Be kind to each other, peace and love, live and let live. The mentality of society today to be bullies, intolerant, if you disagree you're wrong or racist or a bigot etc, opinions no longer allowed nor free speech etc.
makes me think of song doo:

very sorry to hear about the passing of samurai Sam... good friends are hard to come by...sorry for your loss.

another very clear and warm day here in the land that time forgot... rural Nebraska is not much different then it was 40 or 50 years ago... yeah more bells and whistles to keep us entertained but the values stay the same... hard work, faith, and taking care of your neighbors if they need help...because you may need help someday and they will be there for you...

live well Guru's.... honor the sacrifices made by so many that allow you to do so....
