Good Afternoon CGs!

Got the seats installed yesterday and they look good. I'm happy with how they turned out. Katskin makes some nice covers.

Was supposed to do a brake job on mom's car today, she said the brakes were making noise. Did an inspection and there is absolutely nothing wrong, pads at 75-80% life. Good for a few more years at least.

Have to head to the inlaws later and change the gas valve solenoid on the dryer since it's working intermittently. Cheap part, easy fix if you can do it yourself.

Hope everyone has a great day!

COLD, CALM, ALMOST CLEAR THIS MORNING. 30 DEGREES ON THE FRONT PORCH, HIGH OF 53?

NOTHING ON THE AGENDA TODAY.

IT SEEMS THE QUIVER IS GONE FROM THE BUMBLEBEE :-) BUT SOME HOW I LET IT GET UNDER A HALF TANK OF GAS. I USUALLY FILL THE TOY CARS UP WHEN THEY GO OFF DUTY BUT THE SYSTEM GOT DISRUPTED WITH WEATHER DELAYS AND TIRE REPLACEMENT. SHAMEFUL!

NO WORD ON THE TOMATO YET. GUNSHOW IN MUSKOGEE TOMORROW; I'VE NEVER FOUND ANYTHING WORTHWHILE AT A MUSKOGEE GUN SHOW.
BUT THAT WON'T STOP ME FROM LOOKING---

TROUBLE IS WAITING AT THE GATE FOR BREAKFAST AND I MUST GO, THE DOG-CONCENTRIC LIFE STYLE YOU KNOW.

Good Afternoon CGs!

TB, glad the surgery was a success.

VB, congrats on the sale. One less thing to worry about.

Started working on the seats last night. Had to grind the seat tracks brackets and hit them with some rust converter. Did a quick coat of black over that this morning. A trick I saw on TV to help the paint adhesion and drying is preheat the surface with a heat gun and then use some light coats and dry them immediately with the heat gun. Seemed to work. Guess we'll find out.

Tommy, I do find myself thinking about Brad and Bill from time to time. Definitely miss them on the page here.

Hope everyone has a great day!

well the big storm turned into a medium storm but they still called off schools... big percentage of the kids are rural and those roads don't clean up fast...... CORVETTE RACING AT DAYTONA: 25th Year Starts at a Familiar Place
No. 3 Corvette C8.R begins another full-season championship challenge in GTD PRO

DETROIT (Jan. 17, 2023) – Corvette Racing is back where it all started a quarter-century ago as the team returns to Daytona International Speedway for its two-week, season-opening event in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

First up is the Roar Before the 24 – three days of official testing that culminates in qualifying for the Rolex 24 At Daytona. The Roar runs from Friday through Sunday with practice starting for the Rolex 24 on Thursday, January 26.

This season marks the second for Corvette Racing in the GT Daytona (GTD) PRO category. This year’s lineup features the two-time IMSA championship-winning pair of Antonio Garcia and Jordan Taylor – challenging for another full-season title – and fellow Corvette Racing veteran Tommy Milner in the No. 3 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C8.R.

While this is the first race together for the trio, one has shared the cockpit of a Corvette with the other on multiple occasions. While Garcia and Taylor are full-season teammates, Milner was a full-time Corvette driver in 2011 with Garcia as his long-distance teammate. Coincidently, they went on to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans that year.

Fast-forward to 2015 and Taylor was the third driver at Le Mans with Milner and Oliver Gavin as the trio won their class in a storybook ending for Corvette Racing.

Daytona was the site of Corvette Racing’s first event in 1999. In its 12 Rolex starts since then, the program has won the race four times – the most recent coming in 2021 when Garcia, Taylor and Nicky Catsburg led a 1-2 Corvette Racing finish in the final Rolex 24 for the GT Le Mans (GTLM) category.

There are eight entries from seven manufacturers in GTD PRO for this year’s Rolex 24. Combined with the regular GTD field, Corvette Racing will be in a fight among 23 production-based cars around the 3.56-mile, eight-turn circuit that combines Daytona’s super-speedway oval with its infield road course.

The Roar Before the 24 is set for Friday-Sunday with GTD qualifying for the Rolex 24 scheduled for 1:25 p.m. on Sunday. The session will stream live around the world on IMSA.com.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C8.R: “Going for the second time in GTD PRO at Daytona will be a little bit different. We have a year of experience now. A year ago, it was hard for us and hard for IMSA to know what to expect from the performance of our car. I hope we are in a better position this time around, especially at Daytona. We were lacking a ton of performance and we were not competitive and couldn’t fight for wins. I hope things change. The team has one year of experience in this category. We know our weaknesses and where we are strong. I hope we have a chance to win.”

“For Corvette Racing, Daytona is a key part of our season. We’ve been lucky enough to win it a few times. Last year wasn’t a great year for us but I hope we have a chance to be up there, work for it and maybe win the Rolex again.”

“It’s great to have Tommy back. I was still a third driver when he joined the team and I was able to be in the car with him for a year. We won Le Mans together, so I think it’s a good moment to get together again and win all the other big races we can win. I haven’t won Daytona or Sebring with him, so this is a good chance to try for that.”

JORDAN TAYLOR, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C8.R: “Heading into the season, the motivation is win as much as we can. That starts with the Rolex 24. Last year we had a tough race in our first event in GTD. Getting an understanding about what the car needs and what the drivers need is a lot to learn. Having done the whole season a year ago, we can take what we learned into practice and hopefully we can hit the ground running strong at Daytona.”

“With the GTD PRO class growing as much as it has, Daytona will be such an important event for us. We’ve got so many manufacturers from around the world, and it’s a big deal to represent Corvette and Chevrolet on our home turf. We won the race in 2021 and hopefully we can come back with a strong car in GTD after learning what we did a year ago. We’re definitely hoping for another watch this year.”
“It was kind of sad not having Tommy in the IMSA field last year. He’s been a staple in this sport for so many years. I know he enjoyed WEC and exploring the different tracks. For us, it’s nice to have him back home. The last time we drove the same car, we won Le Mans back in 2015 so we have a lot of good history and good memories. We had a good battle back in 2021 around Daytona. He’s one guy you’d rather have in your car than racing against. Hopefully we can go win some more races together.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C8.R: “The team had a pretty tough year last year. They won at Sebring and were competitive at some places, but for the most part the first year bringing a GTLM car down to GTD was challenging, for sure. I would say expectations for Daytona, we go there to win. That’s why we race. Last year was a big challenge for us. We were very slow in a straight line, hopefully that will be better. The goal is to win the race and winning a championship.

“Daytona itself is a huge part of the IMSA championship and endurance racing around the world. It kicks off the racing season around the world. The track itself is not crazy difficult, but the race itself is challenging. You have to have a car that is good in all kinds of conditions. It can get pretty hot in the daytime and also super cold at night. The oval itself poses its own challenges. It’s one car from each manufacturer and great driver lineups with great teams. So it’s a challenge for all of us as drivers and a team to compare ourselves to some of the best in the world. It’s a challenge that Corvette Racing is always up for. No matter what hand we’re dealt, we’ll work our magic to get our Corvette up front.”

“I enjoyed my time last year in WEC to go all around the world and represent Corvette Racing. To go around the world and show off this Corvette to a lot of fans who have never seen the car before was special. As an American kid, being at home is quite nice and the chance to race the three major races in the IMSA championship is fantastic.”

good morning, sunny here but pretty cool in the 40s. Hoping for warmer temps. Not much happening here at work and really hope it don't. I have enough to keep busy with for now.
I'm not sure what happened but when I went to bed last night I guess I died. arron's alarm which goes off almost hour before mine woke me from a coma, then I didn't think I went back to sleep. But, when mine went off at 730 is scared my soul outta my body. My hand was asleep, couldn't turn alarm off, that set off my tremors, I was shaking, heart racing, I just sat up on the bed for about 15 minutes trying to gather myself with drool and slobber pouring out. I've not slept that hard in ages. I think I'm still asleep.

Glad to hear surgery went well. I think if I had 100k extra laying around I might just buy me a one way plane ticket to somewhere far away and stay there, sit in the sun and drink.
Had an appointment today, as of 2:30 Oneta's house is finally sold. I need to get headstones ordered for her and her folks and I'm done.
I'll be picking me up a good bottle of something this weekend

I might be able to squeeze it out at 26% with appropriate late fees and penalties. Based also on your inability to sue and your acceptance of binding arbitration in any dispute. Want me to send you the 36 page contract?

Great news… the surgeon just came in and said surgery went perfectly. She’ll be in recovery for about 45 minutes to an hour.

If everything goes well the rest of the day, we can go home tomorrow.

Good Afternoon CGs!

Hope the surgery went well TB. Luckily that seems to be a common surgery that they've perfected so should be a success.

Picked up the seats from the upholstery shop this morning. They look good, I'm happy. For the price I paid I better be happy lol.

Since we're on the topic of cars does anyone have $105,000 I can borrow for a new E-ray?

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hey guys, sitting in the waiting room. Freaking crazy place to find, then find parking, then find where you are supposed to go in the hospital. Good thing we left early.

Nurses and doctors are super here. Gave us an app so we can follow what is happening in the operating room. First message just came through, “safely asleep and ready to start”. 2 1/2 hours to go..

Good morning. Ugly and dreary out this morning and kinda warm. Weather man already hollering about naders. Not in the mood for that at all. I have to go across town around 2:20 today and rather not get stormed on. Hoping for a slow day at work, just not feelin it today. I have plenty of other stuff to work on, just rather no body pester me today like they did yesterday.
Y'all have a good one.

It's a beautiful day. There is no doubt I will be doing some chores. Daily, weekly, monthly .... my chore list is endless. I'll probably die doing chores.

IT'S A WEDNESDAY DARK AND DREARY, 54 DEGREES, CLOUDY, WET.
TOO DARK TO SEE THE RAIN GAUGE.

NOTHING ON THE AGENDA, A TWO NAP DAY UNLESS IT CLEARS OFF. THE TOMATO STARTED RELUCTANTLY YESTERDAY, TOOK IT TO THE SHOP FOR A CHECKUP. HOPE THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE DAMNED INTERMITTENT THINGS.

PROOFREADING IS TRULY DEAD:
The passenger in the Land Rover was pinned for approximately 20 minutes by Sand Springs Fire Department using extraction equipment.
WERE THEY AFRAID HE'D ESCAPE?

AT LEAST HE WAS NOT "KILLED AFTER ACCIDENT" OR FATALLY SLAIN
:-)

We are up and at em. We leave here in about an hour to head downtown where the hospital is. Surgery scheduled for 10. Surprises me we don’t have to be there any earlier.

Chilly now, low 30s and the weather Marc talked about yesterday is moving in here too, but more rain than snow… I hope.

I knew there was a reason I prefer going to Hard Rock, Hollywood. Gambling and the stock market have one thing in common. You put your assets at risk. Like I said though, I'm a lowball gambler and a lowball stock investor. You should never put money into play that you can't afford to lose.

2022 was a kiler year in the market. Lots of people lost money. It's an averages game over a period of time or day trade if you like to gamble. I'm just tired of getting literally pennies on a savings account. Not C-8 money. More C-5 money. I have my checking, savings and investment account linked so I can pull from one and put it in the other. But I'm long term on the investments over a couple of years. My losses offset my gains but really it's only entertainment, like gambling. Something to try and offset some of the effects of inflation. I don't have the balls to risk big money. No way I'm going broke at this stage of the game. Money in the bank is still money in the bank, even though inflation takes a bite out of it. Mid 50's Chevys are like an investment. Right?

Good afternoon, prayers for the baby Tee hope all goes well.
Marcus that was nice of you to help the folks out at HD. Anybody else would've just let it ride so to speak. Honesty is the best policy.
I got my investment report in the mail over the weekend, I'm losing too. I didn't have much to start with and losing 12% so far pisses me off. FJB. Something has to give. Yes I can wait a bit but rather not.
Not too busy at work today, dude with semi is now mad at who he went to after he came to me. He badmouthed me when I tried my best to help and offer a solution and talked over an hour with him. Now guess what? Yep, he and his crew were in a meeting for an hour with me this morning. Work will get RE-done here, after all. Hoping for a quiet rest of the day.

...I'm thinking it would be more fun to invest in a new C8 then drive the dog out of it while you still can.... F the stock market..... at my age if it goes to crap then I don't have the luxury of waiting 10 years to come back...... Or maybe a pristine C2 Corvette....that would never lose a lot..... the one sure thing in life is you can't take it wid you.....

Woke up at 04:30 but I went to bed at 09:30 so I'll be OK. Had a delivery in the Keys again this morning. Woke up to the high 40's and is currently 75. Start the day with jean pants on andchange into jean shorts. That's how we do it in SoFlo. I was feeling like doing some investing today so I picked up some microchip tech stocks. I bought MU QCOM and AMAT. Holding off on NVDA as they already had a little run up. Wait for a dip in the action and then pick up a few shares. Can't make any money with it just sitting in the bank. I jumped in back in March 2019 and my overall return is over 20% but I had 3 companies beat the living shite out of me with losses of over 85%. So that 20+% ahead has already accounted for a couple of dismal investment failures. What is it they say: It's better to have tried and failed than to have never tried at all. Or something like that. What I invested today was some of Sue's money I had sitting in savings. She said why haven't you invested it? And I told her she didn't want me to invest if there was a chance I could lose money. Had to get her to understand there is risk in stocks. No guts, no glory. Rule of thumb. Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

..prayers for the GGD that all goes well Teeb.....

I also had a Gris moment...the HD dealer is servicing Carman Electra Glide and getting it ready for the summer runs.... they called and said they were so sorry that the wrench working on it had accidentally dropped the key fob and barrel keys on the tank and put a small nick in it.... and that they would send the tank back to HD and HD would repaint the tanks.... I said send me a picture... so he did and I called back expressing my outrage and then told them I was only kidding.... I had put that ding in it when I was putting on the drink holder on the handlebars..... much relief and happiness at HD....and a vow to cut my bill and use some touchup paint to fix my ding....I told them not to worry about it..... I had a WWGD moment...(what would Gris do)

very nice day here today but hang on the other shoe to drop tomorrow as a winter storm has potential to drop 12" of now on us..... I figured as much as I just washed the Duramax.... geez

Go forth and be honest Guru's......

Hey guys, up and around, packed and ready to head east. Going to KC. Tomorrow the GGD has her first surgery to fix the cleft lip. The palette has to wait until she's 18months old, and then, that will be the first of several to repair as she grows.

Chilly start, but close to 'normal' with highs in the mid to upper 40s...again 'normal' for the middle of January.

I don't need anymore anything either, thus the purge. I'm 54 and if something happens to me Arron will have a horrible go at getting rid of things. We don't want to stay in this house anyway and some things I simply no longer care to keep, I can live without.
By the way Tommy if you have mid century modern or vintage anything, holler lmao

We don't need anything anymore. We havetoo much stuff. Some of it, like with Letty, have value. I could make a fortune just listing stuff on fleabay. It's not like I have the luxury of time for that.

Good afternoon, slept in late, didn't sleep good so tried to take advantage of the dark and quiet. It's gloomy here and really warm, storms hovering around. Might nap later. I did a ton around here this weekend, although you can't tell it by looking. Over did it. I'm just holding my easy chair down today and that's it. I thought I was the last one on the block to get lights down but looked up the road and the Jones dude still has the inflatables out. Looks like the Grinch and Santa napping in the front yard over there.
I don't know what 3am looks like other than getting up to pee.
Marcus the MCM swung vase (well, anything MCM really) has taken off. For some reason I used to find these and collect things cheap, now seems everybody wants them for some reason and prices have gone through the roof. I'm in the mood to purge the whole house and I did pull some of my least favorites to get rid of. I'm siphoning off the smaller ones and just a couple of large ones. One of the large ones I found out I had two so one is getting sold. I like Empoli decanters also, and turns out everyone else does too and prices have gone up. I refuse to pay what others will pay, I collect things for me to have and admire. I"m not paying 200$ for an Empoli, I'm a tight wad. Same with vases, I'd rather find them thrifting in the wild. Bonus is some of you live in prime picking areas for me and I"m just too far away to drive .
Ya'll make it a great day.

Ya, we still do late nights every now and again. Warming up with lows in the low 50's tonight. Changed the oil, filter, plugs and fuel filter in the riding lawnmower this morning. I love doing things that save us money. (We can use that someplace else. )

Dodged a weather bullet. Got down to 38 so we had a couple of degrees to sprare. Too close for comfort. I have heaters running in the nursery fish pond, tortoise pens and pig shelter. Turned on the irrigation at 04:00AM To avoid having to get up at 03:30 we stayed out at the casino till 03:00 AM then drove home. Sue came out ahead a lost a little but had some nice pots. Got 5 hours of broken sleep so my ass is dragging.
