Our HOA dues are $145/year. Pays for decorations at the entrance ie. 4th of July, Christmas etc., maintenence on the fountains in the lakes on the golf course. They control everything on the exterior of your home. I sat on the board for two years, its fu(*^$% amazes me what people want to do with their homes. One numb nut wanted to put wild growth and wild field grass in his yard instead of sod, another what to paint his brick house white with pink shutters (what do you expect from an attorney) yet another wanted a red roof with his last name on it. Yards must be maintained and shrubs trimed. It works.
The area we lived before I built this house also had a HOA they were good also.$75/month but it included parties for each season, ie octoberfest became drunk fest, Christmas party got out of hand when we decorated one of the wives as an elf! a Sleeeeezeee Elf, and performed sex on the outdoor Santa in his sleigh. Memorable moment worth the $75/month fee, gawd you should have seen her on the 4th shooting ....never mind.

Picked up 6 floatation collars for the downed power boat. Salvage company will have its riggers on site by 7 am. could be a short dive or a long ass day. Apparently the owner of the boat anchored bow and stern and a wave hit him broad side with his hatches opened. Truly the dumbass gene is alive and well. Took their Zodiak into the safety of the Harbor leaving their craft to the elements. The Great Lakes especially Lake Michigan has more violent storms then the Atlantic and Pacific combined, these storms blow up quick and are extreme. Guess where I'll be tomorrow. Have a great night guys.Had baked beans with a nice burger tonight that will give my wet suit a work out tomorrow.

Started out as cloudy rainy day about 9:30 am all hell broke loose with 80mph straight line winds. We suffered zero damage but electricity will probably be off for a few more hours. Four calls already for recovery dives at the Lake Michigan Harbors. Should be busy this week, one is a 28' that went down in 85' of water. Damn its cold at that depth. Its 6 pm need to find a gas station that has power so I can feed my generator. Temp is now 93 with dewpoint of 73. Jungle conditions. Talk to you guys later.
Coach, our thughts are with you.

Good Morning. Heading to Chicago in about an hour to see my wife's sister and husband and my nephew. They had a wedding in St. Charles, Ill Sat. Spend a few hours with them. Went to a Fortythththth Wedding aniversery party last night, about a hundred people most if not all retired teachers. Drunk fest. Polish wedding food, polish sausage, cabbage, chicken and noodles. One of the art teachers had a 52 Studebaker President frame off resto, nice job, another one had a TR6, and finally a 56 Chevy Apache Pickup frame off resto. Who would have thunk that these guys had a secret hobby. Cool.

Good Evening Guys. 9:25 pm eating dinner, long day, recovery dive in South Haven, Mich. 7000 watt generator went over board. It was a replacement unit on a 32' power boat. 45' of water. Can't figure out how it happened, made it was the help of his friends Bud and Coors. Did a Hull, twin screw, keel and rudder inspection. Quite a few power boats slipped in South Haven from Chicago have not left the Harbor. Piss poor economy. Harbor slip inspection tomorrow morning, looking for fuel leaks, trash thrown overboard and anything out of the ordinary.

Wish I could report all the stuff I'm doing to the Vette this summer but no time, too busy underwater.

When I returned to a well known Indiana University to continue my education after the navy, I had a visiting French Prof. teaching a US History class. His take on American History was interesting. After explaining the French influence on World War Two he asked what else were the French known for? My reply the White Flag, mustard, woman not shaving their legs, driving on the wrong side of the road, perfumed French speaking Vietnamese whores in Siagon. I learned the French have no sense of humor, he drove a Renault Dalphine that would not start below 50 degrees, his wife was hot!!! (note she did shave her legs) she had a southern accent maybe from southern France. She liked to flirt. Thats another history lesson in itself. French Prof. called the US Bullies! better a Bully in the world than a Pussy! Or is it Pussay in French.

Like listening to Sarah Palin.

However, the History Channel series, The Revolution, has been on all weekend. Learned more.

The worst part about public schools, they just glaze over the Revolution and fill in with a bunch of shit that doesn't matter. And then, where I went, from 4th to 7th grade, repeat the same crap over and over again. If I had to sit through one more history lesson on the Pilgrims, I would fucking scream.

You would cringe the way High School US History is being taught now, kind of a negative skew on American involvement
in world events. Increase in the presonal struggles of ethnic/religious groups and what was done wrong, rather than
what the US had to do to maintain our freedom. No mention of the Alamo, 6 pages on the Vietnam War, 14 pages on WWII, 52 pages on the hippie/peace movement, 80 plus pages on being oppressed in America. Pretty Cool!

My experience with PS hoses on Vettes is remove the PS pulley to get clear access to the fitting. I've done a few 91's not sure if there is big change from your 94. While your at it replace the hose. I use Locktite to secure the threads. Rock Auto I use for HP hoses, prefect fit every time and a good price.

Not surprised! Maybe my babyboomer generation grew with an appreciation of what our daddy's did in WWII, or maybe it was taught in public schools, or could be there were real fathers in the home instead of a sperm donor. When kids today ask about why the United States is involved in a war, the parents are usually noncommital or Anti-American. My dad would say if it wasn't for thousands of guys like me you would be speaking fucking German or Japanese you little shit! Kids feel its not their fight or problem and let someone else deal with it.

Sorry guys for the above rant! some times people just piss me off! When I see these young bangers ( remember I use to teach these kids) it drives me nuts to view their behavior when they know damn well no one will challenge them because of a self perceived fear factor. Gawd I'd love to water board that little puke, opps there I go again. Its unfortunate that I never have enjoyed the 4th too much baggage attached to it.

Bill take care of yourself big guy! Hey you actually type better with one hand
Been semi-pissed off all week end, it started Friday after I dropped my wife off for her Nail Salon Appointment. Went to Menards(like Home Depot) to pick up a garden hose across the isle was the American Flags and poles. A teenager and his buddies took a smaller size American Flag and wiped his ass with it and threw on the floor. This was a teachable fucking moment, I told the puke to pick the flag up and tell me what this symbolizes. He said something in Spanish but his buddies didn't laugh within seconds his father came around the corner and ask me what the problem was, so I told him the situation and what I expected from his POS offspring. The dad apologized and made his kid do the same I told him he needed to buy the flag. OK, not a big deal mbut I was in no mood! Left Menards ventured over to pick up my wife at the nail salon. Walking in the Salon I could hear the Vietnamese owner and his Vietnamese employees in Vietnamese how his uncle worked for both sides during the Vietnam War and was a South Vietnamese Captain. In perfect Vietnamese I asked him if his uncle was still alive? he said he was killed in 69 on the HoChi Mingh Trail, I told him I was probably the one that killed him and it was to bad his brother survived so I have to listen to your shit. His fucking eyes welled up. Gawd what a day, Its just another 4th for most people I lost a couple of Marines on July 4th 1969. What happened to respect of the flag, this nation, I don't see any country to help us out when we have disasters or problems. Opps sorry for the rant!

Guys need your input. Took the 87 out this morning before the rain. When accelerating from a stop light the engine reaches a flat spot when upshifting around 30-40. This situation is erradic once I push down on the gas it kicks down and accelerates fine. WTF no codes, total tune up last summer, seems like its straving for fuel, new pump, fuel filter has 3,000 miles on it. Engines never dies, Acts like the old big block chevys with a Quad Jet when the accelerator pump was going bad. Any thoughts!

Good Morning! Another beautiful in paradise. No rain, sunny, drinking coffee on the deck watching my collie crap in the back yard. She seems pretty regular for being 13. Absolutely nothing planned today, yards been cut, trimed, diving gear has been cleaned and checked. Life is good. Thinking about loading up the smoker with a brisket and ribs, or not.

Good Evening guys. Finally no rain. Did three hull inspections for power boat craft that had run aground last weekend. Water in the harbor was only 55 degrees. Amazing what people can do to a boat, night time and rocks.
Took the vette, actually first time out since first week of May. Ran good except for a flat spot periodically during acceleration from 40 mph. Used the twin 72 tanks and the Royal Aqua Master I acquired last week. Damn heavy load, and to think we use to run with those things on our backs. Well guys its been a long day, my wife has dinner waiting, hate eating at 10:00 @ night. I see your getting a lot of mileage from the gay thread. Its a brave new world! I guess its not cool to be straight anymore

Life experiences have taught me a nonjudgemental relationship with people. I have had over 25,000 students in my teaching career, from teaching swimming, small weopons and tactics, explosives, to auto shop, woods, and welding. I have had gay, lesbian and gender dysphoric students. I never judged, emotional I could turn it off, I could tell in minutes their ability for success.
Several years ago my wife and I ran across one of my gender dysphoric students, now a female, she told me that if I had made fun of him in my auto shop he was ready to pull the trigger. Yea never know who your going to influence positive or negative. Never thought it would be a matter of life or death.
I can relate to what a minority in our society goes through. Returning to San Diego after my second tour in Vietnam, I decided to buy a 69 Dodge Charger with a Hemi to try and sort my life out with drive back to Indiana. My second purchase was a Colt Python 4" 357 magnum for my exit stradegy in case I couldn't find my way home with the Charger. I had been spit on, called baby killer, emotionally I began to shut down, I was the minority, no one respected the fact that I helped give them the freedom to express themselves. I didn't asked to be treated this way, I didn't choose to risk my life, it just happened!
Maybe thats what gave me the tolerance to deal with others and their baggage. When I left the Navy I was a type A with hostile/aggressive behavior. The drive home did me a world of good, I still have the Python.
People want to put a label or stereotype people and behaviors society deems wrong. Killing is wrong but society and politics makes it ok. After spilling my guts I may not agree with behaviors and glorification of a behavior but thats what our society does. After SEAL Team 6 eliminated Bin Laden, all of a sudden Navy Recruiters were swarmered with people wanting to be SEALs without any thought of the price we pay to do this.
I just smile stay focused one my family and move on.

Doesn't particularly care what you think about him. Your in his domain. Watch out for your pets. Chomp, chomp, chomp.

Thats what the Realtor said, guy next door was telling us about his Golden Retriver that was taken in front of the canal by a gator in the classic death roll. Never saw any part of their pet again. Wow! Doesn't seem like a great real estate market when you could end up being gator shit while reading a book on your dock.

Tommy. This home was recently rebuilt after last huricane, seven miles in on a channel from the ocean, has a dock, caged swimming pool, ask what the cage was for?, the Realtor said, gators. Cool. Could not believe the prices. Reasonable is an understatement.

Good evening guys. Its been awhile. Ten days into retirement. Great feeling. Spent the last four days in Punta Gorda, Florida, looking at retirement home possibilities, real estate prices are extremely affordable.
Got in this morning, neighbor down the street committed suicide. Wow! shocker! car guy with a passion for British Cars. Seems like a long term solution for a short term problem. Two of my former students were killed in some gang related crap! and to think South Bend was just voted an All American City, Go figure!
Still trying to fing tires for the 87, 255-50-16 are becoming very difficult to find. Tire Rack and Discount Tire are back order since May 1.

Good afternoon guys. Haven't had a chance to post much. Busyyyyy! I'm leaving in 30 minutes to give the commencement address for the class of 011. I watched a few addresses on line and you tube to come up with the "message". Getting up in front people was never a problem its the clarity of the message...hum could be interesting. Last week was retirement receptions and dinners. Damn you would think somebody died or something. The wood shop is offically closed and construction of 4 new class rooms begins Monday. End of an era on so many levels. Oh I must have had a memory lapse over 40 years of doing this "all of our students are going to college don't ya know". Guys gotta hit it approx. 1500 people waiting to hear my words of wisdom,(yea right ) Hope those burritos I ate last night doesnt rear a fart fest!!!

Thanks Marcus. Seniors want to know how a 67 grad from my alma mater, becomes a combat vet, then became a teacher at his old high school. Commitment, being focused seem to be the values they want me to talk about. Gets me to think about how far I have come, Damn! I should'nt be here! I think its those times when the odds are stacked against you that you make this pact with God, that if you get me out of this I'll do something good for humanity. Hum.. I think I have the beginning of my presentation.

Sorry to hear about Boots Tommy.
Busy lately. Senior Class has ask me to give the Commencement Address! 25-35 minutes. Any suggestions Gurus on what to talk about??? Hum..1500 people, the Mayor, school board, pucker factor 8. Closing down the shop for the last time is getting old. Machine, consumables, and hand tool inventory is a time consuming process.
The Vette just sits, no time to drive it. Monsoon season has hit Northern Indiana lately.
My wife is in Seattle visiting her sister, Erin is in Vancover Canada then to London, England.
Well guys its 8:30pm just got home from a school board meeting, and I could eat the bottom out of a bird cage.

Most of you have seen my hot cam install, now about 2 weeks after the install and still working on my tune (the car runs great)it is burning serious oil. When you start it and let it idle it really smokes, white/grey smoke. Has anyone else had this problem? I put in new valve seals, could they be installed wrong? I removed the pvc line and smoke pours out of it. This is a bummer. Any thoughts? Thanks

White smoke is not good! did you have the heads off? If so maybe the heads are not torqued in sequence, Valve guide seals?

Good evening guys. Rain again today and tonight. Had to drive to South Haven Michigan to check out recovery dive sites. Two Polaris Snowmobiles broke through the Ice in 50 feet of water in March sometime. Another site near the harbor an ice fisherman lost his ice fishing hut. One of the owners of the snowmobiles was a prick!! He wanted to know if I could get his "sled" by Saturday Morning. If he wanted me to do it1 it will be on my timetable.Water temp is 40 degree. Major shrinkage in that water temp
28 school days left, I've been asked to give the commencement address.
My wife thinks I live in a cave, I wasn't totally aware of the Royal Wedding because I didn't get invited. Her book club is meeting here at fricking 3:30 am the watch the wedding. Did I mention3:30 in the Fu(*^$ morning. Damn there better be some food involved for this bit of lunacy.
Kate looks hot! there! thats my Royal Wedding fricking analysis. Who gives a rats ass about the dress lets see whats underneath it (another analysis).

Ron, you must be off today as well...been missing your posts. Only a few days left... I told the big guy I'll go another year....what the heck, the wife can never retire, we get the health insurance paid for through her work. Actually my teaching license expires in January 2013 so unless I figure some way to renew I'm done after next year anyhow.

Yep day off, Easter is a big deal in our small family. State of Indiana has just past a bill that throws out senority rights and class size. State Ed. Super is really pushing for charter schools, and this is the way to accomphish his sgenda. We expect class sizes will jump to 50-60 students per class.
It was time to get out Tom, it was a tough decision to make! you invest a lot of time with kids and their futures only to be undermind by an agenda that will make our industrial arts/vocational areas non-existant in 2 years. I'm the type A personality that will not show emotion but I have had my moments in private. 40 years invested! and I did make a difference.

Wednesday a few of my students were talking about Columbine and Hitler BB. I do have a few radicals in my class. I told the kids that have the hotz for Hilter that he had one nut and was a rump ranger! They didn't see the humor! too bad I thought it was a quick response to my skin heads/hitler youth group types. People are sick.

Good Morning Guys. This my second attempt at posting today, apparently since I haven't posted in awhile I ran over my time limit trying remember how to blog!
Been super busy with retirement papers and doing a my financial planning crap. I get some kind of bonus from the
schoolCorp for my military service cool. School Corp had a retirement breakfast for us yesterday, very nice, 85 teachers are going out. During the breakfast I get a text to do another recovery dive in South Haven Michigan. I don't think I need to worry about staying busy.
Bought a 2000 VW Beetle from one of our retiring english teachers cheap! has 21K on in, has a few minor scratches, and has a bud vase. She is buying a new Cadillac SV something, she deserves it. The neighbor next door wants to buy VW for her son, not the best vehicle to exude a macho demeanor, but then again maybe its the perfect vehicle for him.
Well guys my wife wants to go to breakfast in the VW, its raining and cold. She tells me the Beetle is cute and has a lipstick holder. Cool! I think I'll follow her in the truck
