Ours at work wants us to follow 3-4 seconds behind. With 4 seconds as the best choice. You know how many cars will dive in front of you if there is that big of a gap!!

My first home was a condo. The HOA fees weren't too bad ($140/mo). The price per square foot was great, especially for a first time homebuyer. I added up the cost of was what covered. Water, garbage, exterior repairs, lawncare, snow removal and the difference in my insurance fees.

Then I met the neighbors that asked why I was putting up a new light with my own money. Mending my own fence, or fixing the gutter that fell off. "Just call the association". Yes they were running out of money, and having "special assessment fees". They wanted to raise the HOA fees on top of the assessment fees, but there were several that woulndn't pay if they were short that month. The board said the home values would drop if they weren't raised. I told them the values would drop if they did because a high association fee turns buyers away.

They were nice places, and we did make money on ours. However I will not be buying another.

When the brake lines were replaced, were the metal lines also replaced? My first thoughts are the proportioning valve or a smashed/bent/kinked line.

Thats great with how much time it saved you.

If one was purchased, it would be best to find someone through a dealership to buy it. There are updates for new cars that GM sends out. This doesn't matter now, but it would be best to keep it up to date for future use.

When I bought my car it had a set of EMT's on it. I put a set of regular sidewall tires on it. I cannot tell the difference in the ride. I did have a bolt go through one and I drove it home (10 miles). My reason was cost, but my car has a spare. Although I've never checked the pressure. The Goodyear Eagle F1 GS are loud. I put on the F1 D3, but they are not an all season tire. I would agree with teebee, with what I have heard with the Michelin's.

It does change. With everything thing that is revealed in time, history is bound to be effected.

Case in point, the Titanic.

Sure, we know it hit an ice burg. Fine, but history is forever in flux as we learn more about things.

In the case of the Titanic, we now know that the rivets were weak and popped, causing small dimples and leaks to appear, not some 300' long gash.

Events occurred, the politics behind the event is what we are constantly learning about.

Yes, there are always new theories and information that is being learned. This does not change the events that happened.

They are really good for diagnosing much more than the engine. Its much more precise for pinpointing. If you get an O2 code they can tell you if it is the heater element or the O2 itself. This saved me from buying a new O2, when it was a bad connection to the heater. I have access to one at the dealership, and it saves a lot of time.

What about updates for it?

I have the new canister in and the line clear. My next question is the purge valve. With it off the car I was able to blow through it. Does it need voltage to be open or closed? Also it was clogged with charcoal too. I tried to get it all out, but I'm not sure if this ruined it.

I got a new canister today. Tomorrow I will try to get the line cleared and see if any charcoal is in the purge valve. Its gonna be a dirty job.

If you don't have the proper pressure the injectors won't have a good spray. This can cause unburnt fuel. The injectors are a project on your car, but then you could also get to the EGR to fix it too. FIC is the way to go if you decide to replace the injectors.

Tomorrow is STL vs KC. The fun games to go to are STL vs Cubs.

Can you test the fuel pressure? A bad pump will make them hard to start.

Pull the connector off of the low pressure switch and see if it has continuity through the switch. If not put a jumper in the plug to see if the compressor will turn on, but don't leave it there.

Procharger has two options. Self contained or plumbed into the engine oil. I prefer the self contained, you don't have added lines. Plus added heat from the unit. I think it takes about 1/2 hour to change the oil in them.

As long as you don't go crazy with the amount of boost, or push it to the extreme you will be fine. For my LT1 I am going for 9-9.5cr w/ 10-12psi. Procharger has it running 8psi on 10.5cr. The cam is very mild (basically stock numbers) if ran by itself.

Here is a used factory one, be sure to check shipping. You could sell yours to make up the cost. Bose also makes headphones for planes. A set of those may work too.

Looks like the P1sc-1 is what I would be better off going with. Just incase I want to grow a lil.

Another question:

Belt slip issues with the 6 rib? How about the 8rib?

I am going to use the P-1sc. I like that it has a self contained oil system and doesn't have to be plumbed into the engine oil. That one isn't listed for the l98, but should be able to use it. I have asked Procharger on the belt slip issue. They said they dont' have issues with it. As Tommy said their tech is really helpful. I have asked several questions myself.

Procharger has the P600B listed as supporting 775hp. The picture looks like you turn the alternator around to make the room for the head unit. That unit is also reversable. I would call Procharger, they are very helpful. Here is a link for specs.

What is it idling at, be sure to have it around 600 when trying to adjust the mixture screws. Put them both back at 1 1/2 turns and try to move the idle down. Then readjust the mixture screws to the smoothest point. You might have to move the idle down as the engine smooths out and tries to raise back up.

As for the two different jets. They either put back in what they received it with, or couldn't read. I would match them up to have a better starting point for adjusting.

The bogging issue with the first carburetor can be caused by a few things. Engine timing, accelerator pump lever not adjusted proper or a cracked/misadjusted float.

There are several adjustments/metering rods on the quadrajet and can be tricky. However many people say they aren't any good. I had one on my '77 Nova and had good luck with it (once adjusted).

I now have charcoal bits everywhere. There was no pressure in the tank today. The startup problem only occurs when it has been sitting in direct sun for a few hours. I pulled the line from the tank to the canister and let charcoal fall out of it. Then checked it, there weren't any issues with it being clogged. The line to the purge valve also has a lot of charcoal in it. This line is not totally clogged, but I think it might be causing part of the problem.

Is there a vent on the fuel tank, or is the gas cap the vent. Mine builds up a lot of pressure when sitting on a hot day. When I start it the car acts funny for the first minute. At the car show today I opened the gas cap after about an hour of sitting to relieve pressure, and it didn't have the startup issue.

The top off is not a good idea, in my opinion. Not without the targa truss to support it.

You see, when Dave McClellan was designing the C4, he wanted to use a t-top bar. GM brass come in and say get rid of the bar. He says sure, give me $1m to fix it. They say no. He says no. They threaten his existence. He figures out a "fix" and that is the huge ass door sills. But it still wasn't enough, because the firewall cantilevers on the sills!

This is where the targa truss comes in. Well worth it in my opinion.

Dave, had mentioned this issue in BG when I was there. There was not a lot of information given. His response was "This was not designed to be be a targa car."

What is the difference in the frames between the targa and convertible?

A Guru trip to BG wouldn't be out of the question.

I will be porting the early style of the LT1 intake to match the AFR heads. On AFR's website it says to use a different intake gasket. I just want to make sure there aren't hidden cavities that I might find.

I cleaned the PCV and put a new hose on it. It idles smoother, but still at 900. I also double checked the blades to be sure they were fully closed and that the throttle cable was allowing them to the stop. I also sprayed another round of carb cleaner at various spots.

There is a stop for the blades on the tb. I cleaned the blades before this one when on to be sure they would seal all of the way around. The throttle cable allows the blades to be fully shut.

Bill, what did yours used to idle at?

How much higher is the idle? Have you inspected the tb blades to see if closed? Did this start after you adjusted the ASR?

Matthew

It is around 900. I had a spare TB that I had cleaned up, so I put it on last fall. It still acts the same way, and has always idled there. With the ASR adjusted now it shifts way too soon.

The PCV felt like it was a bit sticky, so I am going to clean it. I need to get a new section of hose. This one is brittle and had sealant over a crack from where it was removed earlier.

For the antenna you have two options (as long as the motor is working).

First option: you can switch out the mast which I believe is around $20. The plastic gear strip is usually stripped.

Second option: replace the entire power antenna assembly. This will cost a bit more. I found them used from $75, or new starting around $140 (ebay).

Mine didn't want to pull the new mast in, so I replaced the entire unit. It is a simple job and was very happy to have it working proper.

Have you unhooked the IAC with the engine running? If so, it needs reset.

No, but I will reset it to be sure.

I typically use a wide flat screwdriver in the teeth of the flywheel, and pry it around. It doesn't take much since you won't be building up a lot of compression.

Glad you had a good trip. The first recommendation is to buy a FSM. It will help with a lot of questions.

My car has always idled around 900 and will drop to 700 when in gear. It is a '92 LT1. I have 17lbs of vacuum. I can pull a hose off to make a vacuum leak, and it will raise up more. I have sprayed carb cleaner around the hoses and nothing. Also I have put on a different TB (with IAC) and MAP sensor from the intake I bought for my new engine. Everything was the same.

I'm not too worried about this issue since I am working on another engine. Plus there is a vibration in this engine almost like a bent pushrod, valve or rod. It will smooth out at high rpm's, but felt mainly around 1-2k. Maybe this is part of the problem.

I had the car out last night. Its been pretty nice although they say its going to rain everyday. What other job can you be so wrong at, but not get fired. My car seemed to develop a miss in the last segment of my drive. I took it out this morning and it did fine.

Don, believe it or not it was the best priced out of the ones we considered. Plus they had a hot breakfast and an indoor pool. Would you let me autox my rental car?

Where did you guys end up getting a hotel? It should be nice weather then. Too bad you won't be here on June 4th for the car show. We do have an Autocross on May 22nd! You could bring the family!

Thats the day of her brother graduation, so you might not see me there. Unless I never want her to speak to me. Which wouldn't be bad somedays. We are staying at the Embassy Suites in CC. Where is the autocross going to be held?

Tyler... The AC Compressor arrived (sometime) Funny story. I have been getting at least three to five packages every day for the past three weeks from various auto related vendors. This is stuff for the car show. Well anyhow.. I have been wondering if you sent the compressor because I had not seen it come yet.

Apparently one day when I wasn't here, it was delivered and my wife stuck it in with the rest of the boxes that are now piled up in the living room. I didn't find it until yesterday before I left for my CC Meeting when I did an inventory of the goods.

Thanks so much. I'll try to get it cleaned up and installed this weekend. I hope it works after I put the clutch from my old one and get it re-charged.

I had tracked it to be sure it had arrived. I've been receiving parts too. Yesterday my timing chain arrived, but I didn't know what it was until I opened it. I'll be in DC in less than two weeks.
