Not to highjack the thread too much but. I just did a complete brake job for a younger guy who bought a 94. The car's got 71k miles. It needed: tires, brakes with rotors and plugs and wires. The seats are totaled but the carpet and rest of the interior will cleanup nicely. The engine is crudy and has the normal oil weeping but no leaks on the ground. 2 marks on very nice paint. Engine runs nice.
He paid $7,100 !
He's going to put about $2,500 in it right now before getting wheels and exhaust. He's gonna have a really nice car for his $9,600.
And I get dumped on for asking 9K for mine on other sites. The seats are in great shape, so is the paint minus a little rash on the front and it has a brand new 6 speed and clutch. New tires to boot too! I would have though that people would be beating down the doors for it but they are not. Hell at this point I would take 8 grand and not think another second about it.

This is kind of a hi-jack, but, c5s are almost within reach of a lot of "would be" c4 buyers, its just my opinion, but I think thats why we can't get out of our cars what we'd like to. I like mine though ...don't really want to sell

Still waiting to see if the OP pulled the trigger...

Dude, thats just wrong....I don't care if you're green with purple polkadots, if you have a good solid platform and know what you are doing , you deserve to be looked over by the people and possibly elected into the highest office in the land.
The problem is They're so busy worrying who is winning that I haven't heard 1 iota of substance from either one of the democratic idiots Change!? to what!? at least clue me huh? And the Republican isn't much better. The prospects of putting a 71 year old man in the White house for his First term is scary,That office has aged much younger men....if HE gets in, I hope it doesn't kill him. At least we know he has some military experience. Tough call folks.....Might have to write in vote for Mickey Mouse........

Sounding more and more like a starter. Does it at least hum or make any kind of electrical noise when the key is turned. Is the starter engaging but not turning? I agree with the above suggestions that you should pull the starter. Run it out to one of the bazillion advance/pep boys/autozones in our area and let thenm check it.

Hi Bastet,
I edited the time in my profile to appear as GMT-5 for Eastern time which is around 10:30pm and the clock on the forum shows as 10 after midnight. Is there a master clock on the forum that everything else calculates off of?

Also tried to quote Bastet's comment from post #13 by just replying to it. There is no "quote" option ?

Reckless lenders... What about reckless buyers? I suppose it is easy to fall for gimmicks like interest only loans and ARMs when you really want to get yourself into a home.

I don't follow politics or financial news very much, so I am very uninformed here, but I sure hope whatever actions are taken do not penalize or punish folks like me who went for the standard fixed rate mortgage, and can make their payments.

I did it like you did, work like a dog save, put money down andeal with real life payments. The interest only loans shouldn't have been legal. TOOO many people got suckered. Me? I'm watching the rates so I can refi and cut the length of my term..... 4% for 10years would suit me JUUUST fine!

This was my first outing with a bunch of Vettes ever last year. I got the chance to meet Frank(mojo) and a bunch of nice people. A group of us managed to talk the go kart track manager into letting us have the track exclusively for a half hour. There were more drivers than cars, so, we traded off drivers lemans style every few laps. It was "anything goes" while we had the track and Great Fun and bruises (Great wrecks!!!) were had by all. The Crab dinner couldn't be beat and the ride down, led by the Mojo man himself, was the most fun I've had to date in my Vette.

Set aside the date and GET HERE Gurus! You won't be sorry you did!

HaHaHa LOOOOOSER ....welcome to the club! We're about 10 minutes from The Philadelphia Park horse track. They just got slots in there a short time ago and I have yet to walk out a winner. We don't go often ( twice a year?) and mabey make the run to Atlantic City about that often too. Its fun to play a little and have a limit.
Good Luck next timeTom!

Jeff,
If you left here, you would have left 2 sites because of one site's short comings Everyone here has had sufficient time to vent . Bogus makes a good argument. Lets get back to what we enjoy: Vette Talk!

Take one look at the overall content in threads and you can guess why Im not posting much anymore. New group of people buying these things and hacking the living crap out of them...Dont really have anything constructive to say, not learning much.
Give out good advice and some dumbfark tells them what they WANT to hear anyway even if they know the info is wrong so whats the use? Let them eff up their cars I could care less.
Funniest part is the pissing contest these "thread readers" and self procalimed experts (which Ill never be) who have yet to turn a wrench...
I give up.

I think its forums in general..Im on another one and usually I have to answer all my own threads as I cant get any info or answers other than "Go do a search"...But damn, start a thread about your favorte color or the biggest fart you had in your car and it goes 3 pages.

Maybe Im just burned on the web in general and need a break, my attitude sucks.

Welcome, Smack!!

Lets face it , c4s are cheap enough for just about any 17 year old with a part-time job to afford, and, as anyone with teenagers knows, they know it all. So, as the age and experience factors get lower and lower, that forum becomes just another camaro forum full of kids

In my heart it does bug me to see bad grammar, but I choose not to respond over getting on sombody's case. Everyone has things they do not do well.

I let a lot of things go too - I understand what you're saying, but this was just brutal. Hey, everyone makes mistakes! I'm a poor typer myself, but I always re-read my posts quickly and try to catch and correct my mistakes. But this was just so far beyond a few mistakes, and it culminated in his last line in which he mistakenly (I think?) indicated that he had "rode his girlfriend and that she enjoyed it".

I just couldn't let this one go. It was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back

Hey smack, I couldn't let this one go either...Thought I'd help you out with your shitty english.....I believe you'd be referring to yourself as a "Poor typist" not poor typer! Bad Grammer is not tolerated here!! HaHaHa! Welcome to the Darkside
I lurk a lot but enjoy this forum a lot more than "over there". When they canned Mojo that was it for me. Glad to see you here.

Think Mrs Clinton has a chance? Looking more and more like its going to be McCain vs Obama every day. Although if it were a Clinton Whitehouse again, we might get relations going pretty quickly with Cuba......as I recall Bill Clinton likes his cigars! It would be nice to hop into the nearest humidor and get a genuine Cuban to enjoy.

Well I went to the ER last night and they gave me some antiboitics so I am feeling much better know. I think that is all I really needed in the first place but the first doc did not think so I am still congested but I can deal with that.

Hey red, If you don't have any blood pressure problems and are otherwise healthy, check with a pharmacist and get a box of Mucinex D. It has an expectorent and decongestant in it. Take 1 twice a day with lots of water and it should loosen up your chest and open up the sinuses so you can breath again. Good stuff. you have to sign for it at the Pharmacy counter because of the pseudoephedrine though. Good luck, hope ya feel better soon!

....Yeah Drop, it buys you a place in line at my pharmacy bitching about how much your medicine costs because you just paid $10 copay last time you picked it up. (which was December, before the new plan year and $275 yearly medicare part D plan deductable kicked in......just like it did for the last 2 years that you've been on the plan.....but I'm fuckin' wrong anyway....right? Hell I only do this for a living! As for the F'in "Me" generation. I think the problem started with the "everybody's a winner" treatment.Nobody ever looses, they get a trophy anyway. I'm 47 gang... and pissed at those who came befor me and the generation that is taking over after us.

Got alittle off subject there for a while, sorry, but you started this Tommy-T!!!

Back to your regularly scheduled thread.....

Good Morning runner
I heard some discussion regarding grain pricing. Seems that there is substantial demand for some grains used to produce fuel, not food. Mabey its good for the environment to burn ethanol based fuels but at present it seems costlier. Great for the farmer, But, it costs a good bit of money and energy to produce these fuels that have fewer BTUs than oil based energy sources. Increasing soaring food costs for the love of cleaner alcohol based fuels may not be the way to go in my opinion. Again, in my opinion, solar may be the way to go. Using the grains to solve other problems like world hunger may be a reasonable idea.

On a '96 I'm not sure what you might run into re/ the crank sensor. But I do know that if necessary, it can be eliminated and programmed out of the PCM. Other than that, once you eliminate the water pump drive, you can use the Cloyes 9-3145 which is under $100. It's what I have in my '95.

...Well now I'm confused. if you go to summit and check the specs for a 94-96, it sends you to the 9-3151 which is the $355 one. And in the notes section says
"Timing chain has a 1/2 in. pitch. Can be installed on Generation 1 LT1, if the OptiSpark is updated to the new, second design. This will require new ignition, new front cover, and cam change to second design cam, the nose is different. The older OptiSpark"
It makes no note of the crank sensor issue. Why would you even bother with this one in the first place? It sounds like you have to spend more than just the $355 to make it work.Is the one you noted (9-3145) just a heavy duty direct swap in for the 94-96 LT1? "cause if it is, sounds like a no brainer. But Summitt's site says that this part (9-3145) is for Gen I engine family and "won't clear the plastic timimg cover" ?
WHAT GIVES?

Good Morning
Last day of the week to grind through here on the East Coast........Hell, Its already after 10pm down under....Casey must be a few beers ahead of us....lucky dog! I'm still on coffee!
Father Daughter dance for me and my 8yo Alana this evening. Funny thing isWe'll show up at the dance and that will be the last I see of her for 2 hours. The girls run around the gymnasium and throw confetti at each other in fancy dresses while the Dads wait "patiently" for the evening to be over. Haven't met any car guys at these things yet so It gets a little boring but Gotta do it for the little one.

Have a good days folks

If noone knows, then I guess I'll save up a few more bucks and get the CCs or Cranes. It was just a thought. I have the "do something to the Vette" itch and for 10 or 12 horses I was going to waste an afternoon on it.
Thanks anyway gang.

Damn "Askers" !!!!! wish they'd stop posting this crap.!
