Gday Johnny Long time mate!!

The best man to talk to about Dodge Vipers is TopTechx6, he is a chrysler man from way way back and is Viper certified. He is the man to give you any answer to any question i reckon.

Hows that arcade room of yours coming along? My new place is almost finished being built, so pretty soon ill be able to get in there and put up some walls, do abit of plumbing, then ill get around to installing the big CRT projector ( weighs more than i do!! ) and get my arcade machines up and running again. Got Daytona USA and Sega Rally to add as well now!!

Take care mate ;)

No, there is no established standard for HD.

720p, 1080i, 1080p are all different and have different data rates.

720p means 720 lines load every 1/60th of a second.
1080i means 540 lines load every 1/120th of a second, alternating like the tube TVs you're used to.
1080p has the highest data rate, it loads all 1080 lines every 1/60th.

Or you can go to the 120hz TVs, they refresh twice as fast supposedly.

But yeah, you really want to match up the input resolution with the TV resolution. Anything different will cause pixel interpolation and blur the image. If you are shrinking or stretching anything, you're losing quality.

A 1080p TV interpolating pixels will look worse than any CRT. And they look hideous on analog signals.

Yeah i know all the signal names, dont know about over there, by what youve said i gather they dont name the same as we do here, cause here, if its "FULL HD" its 1920x1080p and thats it, HD can be 1080i, 720p or 720i. SD is 576i over here.

If the CRT television is half way decent, itll do 100Hz flicker free progresive scan, direct view TVs ive owned in the past had that except the first one i got. I dont own a TV as such, but my CRTs are both 3 tube projectors. One of them is a video grade set, so its only good for 480i and 576i, but the NEC is capable of WAY more, and at 1600x1200 there is no flicker, and no flicker at 1080p, not even any flicker at 1080i if i set it to 72Hz or more. Basically, itll do any res you throw at it with no flicker, cause its got enough bandwidth that the scan rate is fast enough not to notice flicker.

If i had the chance, i would grab a Barco Reality 909 in a flash. By the time any digital gets to the standard of that CRT monster ill be too old to see it.

Dead right there mate, seems most TVs these days will do alot, but dont do any of it real well. Seems in that case, the best set to buy is the one with the longest warranty....

If its full HD, it will be 1920x1080, the i and p only mean the scan type being progressive or interlaced.

Id think any HD tv worth a damn would have an auto mode these days that would select the correct ratio and resolution to use the full screen based on the input information.

Cant beat CRT projection for versatility in these type of respects, they may be rather bit, but the will do any resolution they are capable of dot correct. Mine is only an 8 inch projector, so its not top end, but it will display 1920x1080p as well as any wide screen res up to that perfectly well, and if the signal is 4:3, itll display that from 480i right up to 1600x1200p and anything in between. No LCD, DLP, LED, or plasma can acurately display any more than one wide screen res, and one 4:3 res, cause the pixels are permently fixed. They display them ofcourse, but they use software interpolation to do it, or they use a reduced portion of the dots to make up pixel perfect resolutions ( such as when you see that boarder all the way around )

Mike i got told the same thing about staying with the optispark, as you know i didnt have an issue with mine either, and it went a shade over 170,000 miles before i put in the MSD i had sitting there for about 18 months. I opened up the factory original optispark and it was prettymuch perfectly fine. The car ran no different with the MSD.

I think the vast majority of the parts i bought for my Corvettes over the 11 years i had them were either made in Mexico, or made in China. I ended up buying some new O2 sensors here in Australia cause no one in America could get the genuine US made ones anymore. My MSD distributor was made in the USA so it said on the box, MSD Blaster coil was made in China, it replaced a Chinese made AC Delco that was still working fine and went in the spares box.

I didnt think you could buy an AC Delco part still made in the USA....

You heard wrong. This was the only forum i was moderator on. I no longer participate on any forum.

I bailed is correct. What you heard in the 2nd bit is bullshit.

Apparently, i have to change who i am to be accepted and respected by most of the members of this particular forum, and i am not prepared to do that for anyone, so i left.

Because i dont feel the need to be accepted by anyone, nor do i care either way if people like me or think im arrogant, id simply rather leave you all to it, cause im never going to try to impress anyone for any reason.

To those of you that said im arrogant ( you all know exactly who you are ), you wouldnt know youre arse from your elbows, cause not one of you has met me or spoken to me any other place than a forum.

it's a tan wire with a dark brown (or black) connector. I don't specifically remember a black tracer, but there could be one.

It does yes, ive seen it in a couple places, but then you never know what people might do under the bonnet to influence this either. Im pretty sure it does have 2 tone, but then without looking again i cant be certain.

If you want to add more unsprung weight to the rear, by all means. Thats about all youre doing considering this is a street car.

Glen i dont know what wheels youve got on that car at the moment, but if they are still sawblades i dont know how big a brake youll fit under them, the C5 brakes would go very close to hitting.

No it's not. You need larger in the front to compensate for the change in the rear.

This car he has is a STREET CAR, its not a race car, its a massive overkill, there are much better and smarter options for the money.

I dont know where you checked prices, but if you go to the site in my sig and look for the phone number, give him a call (he is in Colorado, but he will post to where ever you are) and see what price he says. If you have a part number, that will make his job alot easier.

Make sure its a 93-96 Corvette pump and not one of the other variants.

If there is a major difference between the analog gauge (right head, between 6 and 8) and the digital gauge (front lower water pump housing) then chances are the water pump isnt flowing as much water as it should be, or youve got some sort of technical issue causing alot heat build up in the right head (highly bloody unlikly)

I used to get lots of this when i used to build/repair/sell/upgrade computers a few years ago. More often then not, i could almost always put it down to PEBKAC.

First thing id do is get a REAL windows disc and give that restore disc the arse, format the drive totally clean and install windows with its default Microsoft settings. In my experience it runs better that way instead of the restore disc way.

Lets's put it this way, if you can produce 25W of power by burning hydrogen gas, and only use 24W of electrical power to generate it, you'd be a filthy rich man. And you'd have invented the world's first perpetual motion machine.

Dont be calling it mine, its not my invention, i dont even think its a good one.

I think before you go condeming it with no hard facts, you should give it a go.

There is a bloke that has made an electric car that will run pretty near unlimited miles too apparently, i dont know the facts behind it, so im not prepared to say anymore on it than that, but as far as i could gather, it required no recharging, and no petrol of any sort.

Im not looking for an argument, but if youve done all this research into this, lets see some hard facts before you condem anything more.

These people swear it works, and you saying "no it doesnt" is not proving they are wrong. If youve researched this then i appologise, but so far i just see a non believer that hasnt tried to prove the other wrong.

The fact is the story isnt what it should be, and anyone that doesnt know me, but does know C4s, is going to read that and think im a chump because of all the mistakes that bloke made with the story.

Just so long as you all understand that IS NOT the information i submitted in many areas. There are a couple places he quotes what i said and sort of got it "close" to meaning the same as what i actually said.

During the emailing back and forth he would send me some questions, i would answer those questions accurately, then he would send the questions back asking "did you actually mean this" like as if im stupid and dont know what im talking about.

Then when id reply to each question again with the same answer, it would come back again asking if i meant something else.

After this happened with 4 or 5 groups of questions, i started getting abit upset (as you do when you have to keep repeating yourself and seem to get nowhere) and i asked why i had to answer the same questions 4 and 5 times, to which his reply was "sorry but i just cant find any of this information or RPOs in the book i have on my desk"

Although i told him to throw the book away and listen to what i was saying, when you read the story you may see he did not do that. Not to mension he gave me credit for work i told him was not done by me (which is just plain embarrasing, makes me look like im going out of my way to take someone elses glory)

So while its great to get the car in the magazine and become "famous" as you say, i really am quite convinced the people that write stories for VETTE (and probably others) really dont know much about Corvettes.

So its from that i draw to the fact i reckon alot of myths about power adders and things like that come from these magazines, which people read and think its gospel.

Thanks mate, alot of people said the same on the day too, i had the only C4 with the tire lettering painted and alot of people thought that looked great and suited my car well.

The Z belongs to a very good mate of mine, ive said the same to him about the spoiler (so has his son) but he loves it, its not my thing.

Yes thats a real Grandsport, its the ONLY one i know of in Australia, and ive never heard any evidence to say otherwise.

Im guessing by Quasar blue youre talking about the blue coupe with the little yellow fence around it and the CHEVY bowtie plates on it where the number plates go? That not a quasar, its a custom colour, its a 90 with later model bumpers.

Its over 30, it can stay a lefty mate yep. The previous owner of that C1 was too panzy to be able to drive a lefty, so blew a heap of money by converting it.

Why waste the money though Tobi John? All he has to do is drain sump, swap filter, and refil with whatever he likes, but why Mobil One? Why not something decent?

Any good quality oil will clean deposits, any oil that doesnt is leaving deposits.

Nothing special about Mobil One mate, only rice burner drivers use it here. If he wants to go to synthetic tell him to go with German Castrol.

Ok, that last link is actually hydrogen powered. The first one is b.s.

Using gasoline to generate electricity to create hydrogen onboard to fuel the car simply wastes more gas.

How much extra fuel do you think 2 amps will take? Its abit like saying turning on the headlights is going to draw a heap of current and shoot economy in the foot. I dont think so.

Now while i tend to agree with most you say about this system and hydrogen in general, its never going to be the answer, but adding 2 amps draw to an allready spinning alternator wont do a thing.

(i get the 2 amp figure from the plans i have here to make that device, and the plans to make another just like it, which a friend of mine downloaded for nothing)

If indeed you believe a 2 amp current draw will have that much effect on power and fuel consumption, do a dyno run with the blower turned off, the lights off, and the radio off, then do more runs turning each one on as you go. Let us know what you find.
