Morning Guru's! Some of you will have seen that the beast is up for sale - I have decided to go a different direction and get a dedicated track car. Unfortunately the beast is a vert so it wasnt going to work for me. I've had 9 years of happy driving but only drove 900 miles last year.

Hopefully I'll find a happy home for her!

That is an awesome vette and really tempts me. You going to go racing against Alex?

In town I use D, not OD. Just to keep it from constantly shifting in and out of OD. Coming to a stop just let off the gas and let it coast.

Marcus, the logic of the hydraulic clutch is simply a matter of eliminating the mechanical linkage. Some even tried a cable linkage, which did not work out very well.

Marcus, I always did the same thing. It makes no difference to the clutch, but I was taught it is a whole lot easier on the throwout bearing.

Andy, that's the reason I had steel siding put on my house. It's a long freaking way to the peak of a two story house and I refused to do it anymore.

You can not see the bottom of the ladder in the picture, but he is actually three stories up in the air due to the steep ground slope. To reach the peak on the other side of the house is more like 4 or 5 stories in the air on the back side. Fortunately it is all cedar siding and the paint is in good shape.

I had some painters here yesterday for the sides of the house. Just no way I am going up a ladder like that.

Marcus, black cars are like this - They need washed frequently to look their best. Start at the front and by the time you get to the back the front is already dirty again.

It almost has to be the buttons on the dash panel need cleaned. When I had my 95 that was an easy fix, not so sure about the 96 models.

I recommended the premix to Jon just because it is so much easier. Not sure what the quality of the Philly city water is these days. The yellow antifreeze is the same as the green, just bittered so cats and other animals won't drink it. It was first implemented due to a California animal lovers suit, but now some stores out here are beginning to carry it as well.

System is about 2 1/2 gallons total. Buy the premixed 50/50 green for the top off. You barely need to drain any as the TB hoses are near top of the system. BUT, how long since the coolant was flushed and changed?

Not sure I would go with the LT1 intake. I have read problems where the distributor alignment was messed up by people getting their measurements just slightly off.

He was also awarded the bronze star posthumously, and the second purple heart. The service was well done and most definitely brought tears to my eyes. Story follows:

No matter how many times you see it on the streets of America, the vision of a fallen hero being brought home is one that makes even the toughest of men misty eyed.

Sunday, the remains of a fallen hero, Douglas County's Sgt. Joshua Bowden, were returned home and the community turned out in droves to pay their respects.

A chartered plane carrying Bowden arrived at Fulton County-Charlie Brown Airport at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. He was be met by family and friends, military officials, law enforcement from multiple jurisdictions, elected officials and nearly 300 members of the Patriot Guard.

From there the processional made the slow ride with thousands lining the route. The mile-long procession, brought him to Douglas County along Fulton Industrial Boulevard, Mableton Parkway, Bankhead Highway, Church Street, and Rose Avenue to Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home in Douglasville.

Bowden, age 28, of Villa Rica, Ga., passed away Aug. 31, 2013 from injuries sustained while serving his country in Afghanistan.

Born Aug. 9, 1985, in Lithia Springs, Josh graduated in 2003 from Alexander High School. During his high school career, he excelled in soccer, making the varsity team his freshman year, Offensive MVP and Coach’s Award recipient his sophomore year and was the team captain his junior and senior years. In addition, during his senior year, he had 202 saves, 10 shutouts, six assists from goalkeeper’s position, only allowing 1.52 goals per game.

In addition, he also made the Sentinel’s All-County Boys’ Soccer Team and was named Douglas County’s Player of the Year in 2003. His love for soccer began at age 10, when he became a member of the DC Force 86, finishing nine years later as a U19 GA Junior A2 undefeated division Champions. He earned two black belts in karate and was a Junior Olympic Champion, plus a National and International Champion.

Josh joined the United States Army in 2005 and was currently on his second deployment to Afghanistan, having been previously deployed in 2008. His most recent assignment was at the 71st Ordnance Group (EOD), 242nd Ordnance Battalion (EOD), 748th Ordnance Company (EOD), at Fort Carson, Colo.

His awards included the Joint Service Commendation Medal with Valor, Purple Heart, Joint Defense Meritorious Service Medal, NATO Medal, Combat Action Badge, Senior Explosive Ordnance Disposal Badge, Parachutist Badge and the Air Assault Badge.

He is survived by his wife, April Bowden; son, Kaden Bowden; parents, Ray and Yolanda Bowden; sister, Shanda Duggar and husband Donny; brother, Dugger Camp and wife Cassie; paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Sara Bowden; maternal grandparents, Morgan and Betty Williams; aunt, LaQuetta Buchanan; uncle, Chad Ponder and wife Zeta; and cousins, Eric Bowden and Jake Bowden.

Yesterday was both busy and sad. A good friend of our son's and of our family was killed in Afghanistan 10 days ago. He was army special forces staff sergeant with seven years in the army. While he was an explosives expert he was killed not by an IED, but while on unmounted patrol by small arms fire. The procession was led by dozens of local and state police cars, then hundreds of the patriot guard motorcycles as the brought his body from the airport to a local funeral home. It was an awesome and very solemn procession. Then later in the evening there was a time to visit the family at the funeral home, and today another service. Then his remains will be transferred to Arlington for burial after another service in Colorado.

He was the goal keeper on our son's premiere league soccer team for seven years and varsity high school team for four years and an outstanding young man. Twice state champions, largely due to his abilities and leadership. During that time like all the other parents we got to know him and his family. He leaves behind his wife and five year old son and will be missed by all.

Woke up to rain, and it looks like rain all day. Guess the wife and I will go see a movie this afternoon and then out for dinner. Too humid to finish waxing the vette, might find something that needs done in my workshop, might not.

Today I put down the very last of the sod for this year. Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing, but I have had enough of the sod for this year. Moving on to pressure washing the back porch, a 3 day project in itself. Then after it is all washed I plan to give it a good coating of Thompson's Weatherseal.

That quick splice connector is well known for corrosion which results in a very poor connection.

Not very likely, but another thought. There is a water drain under the lid and just aft of the fill cap. If it is clogged then rain/wash water can build up and eventually work it's way into the tank.

Guess it wouldn't hurt to get the fuel filter changed. Any chance of water in the tank?

I use that phrase for house, car, truck and yard. I just like clean. Makes me feel all is right with the world. At least my world. Which is why I always have work to do and I'm always dirty.

I guess I should clarify my earlier statement. The house, yard, vette, wife's SUV, etc. are kept very clean. On the other hand the truck is strictly a work truck and has less than excellent paint to start with. So while everything else gets a lot of attention the truck does not.

I have owned my truck 5 years and washed it twice. It sits outside all the time and looks 'clean' after a good rain, good enough anyway. But after hauling loads of dirt and/or sod I do wash the bed out (usually).

Our son is on his way home right now. Staying with us for a day or two and then on to his new base. Hurlburton Field at Fort Walton Beach, FL will be his new 'home'. He is thinking of buying a beach front condo, so our daughters are already planning to visit him fairly often. Then when he gets deployed I guess I will have to be sure everything is OK on occasion. Tough duty, but I can suffer through it for him.

They also stock only the finest muffler bearings, too.

Don't tell Don about muffler bearings.

I put std fluid in the left and synthetic in the right. Turned on the 4 way flashers and they looked like a drunk comedian trying to do rapid eye blinking.

I started early since rain is in the forecast. I had a full truckload of dirt to shovel into a wheel barrow, roll it over to back fill the new retaining wall, smooth it out and tamp it down, then repeat. I got it done just in time as it is all lightning and thunder outside now. Good news is this is the last of the three retaining walls that I had planned. Next is picking up another pallet of Emerald Zoysia on Friday.

As most of you know our house is situated on a hill. Then a neighbor two doors down flies a helicopter checking and maintaining power lines. Last Saturday I was in the living room and heard a helicopter. Looked out the back porch and there was a helicopter, dead even or maybe slightly lower than me and less than 100 feet off the porch. Went out on the porch and waved back and forth before he climbed and went over the house. Really cool!!!
