Or, northerntool, auto repair, bottle jacks for all of them

The also have an air operated one @ $59.00

Also, don't know tha dimensions of the tray you are going to set this in but bottle jacks can be a tad shakey. I'd give some thought to tack welding the corners of the jack base to a larger piece of 1/4 plate.

That jack is available at a local PepBpoys. I looked at it today, but I'm still not sure about what to get. How far does a C4 need to come up b4 the tires leave the surface?

I've been looking at harbor freight alot. They're just about the worst offender for giving minimum/maximum only without actual range of jack movement. As for the bending of the crossmember, I'm working on a type of plate to support the whole width of the crossmember so the weight isn't on just one small area. BUT, I need to know what kind of lifting device I'm gonna end up with first.

Last year I got a deal on a used quik-lift. It has the centerlift bridge you can use to place a jack under the car and lift it for pulling the front wheels off. The old Q-L site showed a bottle jack in use. I've been looking at bottle jacks to find one, but I'm not finding one that seems adequate. I have about 10" from the bridge to the front crossmember, so that's not too bad, but I'm not sure how much of a stroke the jack needs to have. They all seem to advertise minimum/maximum range, but that includes the screw on the top going from all the way down, to all the way up with the top screw completely extended. So what do I need as far as actual extension of the jack, not including the top screw?

Also, due to the shape of the front crossmember, do I even want to use a bottle jack, or should I try another approach?

Thanks in advance for helping.

The Pro Flow has been looked at, but again too pricey after all is said and done. I've gotten to the point of either keeping the SuperRam, or maybe a set of ported out SLP's that aren't siamesed too badly. I like the idea of the low-end torque, and from what I've read, they'll rev up to just about where I want them too. This is one of those decisions that probably will not be final until it's all bolted down.

Thanks Joel, but for now, things are on the way back burner. There's also a guy trying to get a group purchase together on that forum for FIRST intakes. I'd really like to get in on that, but I don't have the $$ to go that route.

I've got black wheels on my DD truck and I'd like to brighten them up with some accents. Are any of you guys aware of any rattle-can paint available that will adhere to a powdercoated surface? I checked with Eastwood and the question eventually was swept under the rug by way of ignoring my repeated emails.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Sorry that happened. A far as your back goes, I'd still check it out. Even though it was already hurting, there may have been damage that's going to compound things and get worse. When I ruptured a disc I only had pain for a couple days, but 6 weeks later I could barely walk.

it has done that, but in that scenario it's more likely if there's a bit of gravel under the right front, of if there is an uneven or rippled surface. I read in that link there was a recall and the '03 Sierra is included. I wouldn't expect the recall to still be active.

You can feel it in the pedal sometimes when you go over ripple in the road surface, sometimes the pedal will get sorta spongy, maybe the bell/light come on. If the sponginess/bell/light all happen, the light will stay on for a while, usually until you park it. Then it will often come on at next start up, but then go out shortly thereafter.

Sometimes you can be driving on the smooth highway and it'll come on. Sometimes for a while, sometimes until you stop and later restart. This is goofy, isn't it?

I have an '03 Sierra 1500, 2wd that is my DD. It has a problem with the ABS that keeps intermittently showing the ABS light,
complete with the bell. At times I feel it thru the pedal, sometimes not, whether the light/bell is on or not. But the most regular thing I notice is that if I come to an intersection stop and there's roughness in the road, that will usually set it off, if not immediately. I know there's a code reader you can get for this sort of thing, but I'm not sure where to get it, or what it's actually called. Any help you guys might have is appreciated either on the brakes, or the tool.
Fwiw, I'm thinking it's the RF sensor to the wheel. But, then again, I'm often WAY wrong.

If you need one, I have an COMPLETE LT1 intake, with rails, OEM injectors, EGR valve, throttle cable bracket, MAS, MAF, throttle body with IAC and TPS. Fits all LT1s but is specifically 1994-96.

I am a fan of the EGR valve, I think that a kit might exist to relocate the valve from where it lives to a more or less remote position.

I haven't fully made up my mind to go this way, but just out of curiosity, how much would the selling price be for that setup?

Thanks, I saw that one, and there's been another for sale as well. But in keeping with my opening post, I still wonder if these intakes have been done correctly, or "close enough," if you get my drift. I guess I'm just gonna have to break down and join in those threads to find out how they were done.

Hi Matt,
I did look a good bit at what you posted. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna need to go thru an do it again as well. And don't think I don't appreciate your post, but we had my daughter's annual party here at the ranch, which means I was either cleaning or out shopping for supplies for both the party AND to help us get thru the lack-o-water due to a main break a few yards from our house. Lemme tell ya, yesterday we had "Grand Lake dayton" at the base of my driveway as there was prolly about 50+ gallons/minute going by. Thanks to both of you for your responses.

Thanks Andy. I'd imagine the you can transfer the bolt holes from a gasket for the hold down bolts. The dist. hole though, I'm not sure where guys get their locations. I'd guess you can flip an oem over and, taking measurements from the manufacturing of it, generate the needed location.
It's not so much that I wanna do this myself, but I've considered buying one already converted, but then my original questions come back into play. How do you know it's been done correctly?

When LT1 intakes are converted for L98 use with a distributor, where do they get the measurements for locating the hole for the distributor? And if I'm not mistaken, where do they get their info on the correct angle, if any, for the where the dist. collar rests and is tightened to the intake? These questions are the biggest reasons I've never looked too seriously at a converted LT1 intake.

We have a 2000 Impala w/120,000 miles on it and this week it started showing the "Low Tire Pressure" light on the dash. It's been on before as the right front loses air from time to time, but after filling the RF and then checking the other 3, it's still on. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance......

I haven't read this entire thread, but if you Do end up w/ a 383 conversion, check out this article from Car Craft magazine. The Patriot heads turned out to be a great alternative for the $$. If I didn't already have a set of AFR's for my build, I'd probably get a set of these Patriots.

If I wasn't trying to get rid of my cell phone, I'd try to get that as a ringtone!

I do hafta wonder, who actually paid for those phones, and other than votes, what're they getting in return? There's gotta be a hitch. Like who else is listening to the conversations on those phones? Perfect chance for big brother or other rich white guys in power to listen in on those conversations. If I was the guy handing out those phones, I'd do it.

I must be pretty starved for entertainment because I actually enjoyed watching this.

Ultraman, nice toys dude! I'd be jealous if I didn't know what it takes to maintain and keep all of it looking that good. Again, WOW!

I know what you mean, I'm a cheap SOB as well, but I'm also tired of the unexpected injuries that seem to follow me when I do this stuff. I'm becoming so accident prone that when my neighbors see me pull out a ladder they all get out their lawn chairs and coolers to wait for me to do someting stupid and painful.

Well boys-n-gurlz, today I find myself at a crossroads. I've got repairs to perform on the house. The most notable is the turlet in the masterbath is leaking at the base and needs a new wax ring. I've done this before. I don't enjoy it. So after considering all the facts, weighing the process in my mind and looking at the fun factor involved, I've decided I'm not gonna do it. This'll get farmed out next week. At 57 years of age, I figure I've paid my dues on this sort of thing. Besides, I eat enough s__t at work, why not let someone who gets paid to eat s__t eat the s__t I don't wat to eat? Who's with me on this?

I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable weekend.
Bob out.

BTW, this is a particularly awsome HCF! My compliments to the posters, and to the parents of these young ladies!

I guess Pink suit in #7 just couldn't wait for the photo shoot to be over, now could she?
