I go to the eye doctor every 6 months. I am 21 years old and I have -5:00 or however you type it. Am I going blind since my vision is so poor at such a young age. I have been wearing contacts for 10 years. Just wondering who else has poor vision and how what they think. I have started wearing glasses more though to give my eyes a break.

What did your doctor have to say?

Sounds like time for a 2nd opinion.

I've been wearing glasses for 46 years - as much as a PITA as glasses are, I've never had any desire to get contact lenses. And while corrective surgery has worked for many folks, I haven't been tempted to risk it.

To start with, you aren't going blind... my diopter is worse than yours, so there! I have an astigmatism from hell... and my eyes have been junk since 1975... but glasses make me 20/15. I don't see that as being a problem.

Just get glasses and enjoy life... You just won't ever become a jet fighter pilot!

Been wearing glasses since I was 11, (26 now), astigmatism, all that good shit.

I was changing prescriptions about once a year, until about 4 years ago, been about the same since then, havn't needed to get new ones since.

Contacts have been tempting me, so does LASIK, but like Piano, just can't deal with the risks of it

I'm going to get an appointment set to have my eyes checked for my baseline before getting lasered. Since I am near sighted it'll be easy, and our insurance is so good it'll only cost me $500 an eye from a reputable surgeon.

My eyes are crappy, I'm nearsighted and have a very different astigmatism in both eyes. I do wear contacts but if the astigmatism gets worse, I'll end up special ordering them. They cost enough as it is. If this house sale goes through in January, I plan to schedule Lasix surgery.... I'm hoping that if they can at least make it a lot better (I don't expect it to be perfect) then at least I can wear 'normal' lenses.

My eyes are about -3.50 in the contacts i get i think, ad ive been wearing contacts for about 11 years or more. I wouldnt think youre going blind at that rate. Sounds worse than it is mate.

Once you sell that house Vetteblondie, youll have to come to Australia for a trip
